Team Honda Racing to Field Stauffer and Herfoss in 2015
12th December 2014 – Team Honda Racing is pleased to announce that #27 Jamie Stauffer and #17 Troy Herfoss will take on the title challenge for the factory Honda team in 2015.
It was an incredibly successful season of racing in 2014 in which Team Honda Racing secured 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th in the Australasian Superbike Championship and also 1st and 2nd in the Inaugural Phillip Island Championship.
Wayne Maxwell won the 2014 Australasian Superbike Title with Team Honda Racing in a terrific season onboard the Honda CBR1000RR SP and the team wishes Wayne all the best in his future endeavours.
Stauffer has raced with the team since 2010 and his speed and agility on the race track is matched only by his determination to win. “I am really happy to continue with Team Honda Racing in 2015. The team is such a professional outfit and everyone gives 100%. 2014 was a great year onboard the CBR1000RR SP and although I missed out on the title and finished in 2nd place it really spurs me on heading into 2015 to make it my best year to date. I can’t wait to start the title challenge again and see what I can achieve.”
Herfoss was a late entry into Team Honda Racing in 2014 after his replacing an injured Josh Hook for the initial event which turned into a season-long position in the team. Herfoss proved himself early onboard the CBR1000RR SP and finished 3rd in the championship. “I am really excited to be competing for Team Honda Racing again in 2015. I had a fantastic year this year racing with the team and the CBR1000RR SP is such a good package I can’t wait to get back out there and see what we can do next season.”
Team Honda Racing is also extremely excited to announce that Josh Hook will be heading to Japan in 2015 to compete for the FCC TSR team in the Japanese Superbike Championship. The young rider will also have the chance to compete for them at the Suzuka 8 Hour event later in the year. “I am really looking forward to racing for the FCC TSR team; it is such a huge opportunity. To race in such a competitive championship with the best team in the paddock is terrific. I am very grateful for the opportunity and I look forward to heading to Japan next year to get started.”
Team Owner Paul Free has high expectations for his team going into 2015. “I am really pleased with the team we have put together for next year, both Troy and Jamie are exceptional competitors and our machine, the Honda CBR1000RR SP has proven itself this year as the bike to beat throughout 2015. Understanding your motorcycle is half the challenge for technicians when you are looking to get the best out of it and our team know the SP intimately. Beyond that we have a group of dedicated staff that enjoy and respect their positions in the competition, and we all have the same desire to win”.
