The question of what it would cost a U.S. team or rider to source a Moto2 racebike came up when it looked like the new MotoAmerica series would include a class for the unlimited-chassis, spec-engine machines used in the Moto2 World Championship. Estimates of what a Moto2 racebike would actually cost varied wildly, and MotoAmerica officially put the class on hold for the time being. (A press release issued October 3rd to announce MotoAmerica’s primary racing classes stated, “Moto 2 will not be included in 2015 but will be re-evaluated for the 2016 season.”)

So it’s still a valid question, and the AGT Rea Racing team’s recent offering of several 2014 Moto2 racebikes for sale provides at least a sample of pricing for used Moto2 racebikes.

The team is offering its own complete Suter racebike–as ridden by Gino Rea during the 2014 season–for 60,000 Euros, or about $73,800 U.S.. The bike comes with a 2015-spec “long chassis,” Ohlins front and rear suspension, Brembo brakes, OZ wheels, a Moto2-spec Honda CBR600RR engine and an SC exhaust system.

The team bought and is now selling three other bikes, including the Marc VDS Kalex ridden to the 2014 Moto2 World Championship by Tito Rabat. The complete title-winning bike includes Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, OZ wheels and an Akrapovic exhaust system. A chassis set-up kit including swingarm pivot inserts ranging from position 0 to position 4, optional suspension link A, and steering stem inserts A, B and C comes with the bike. The price is listed as being 75,000 Euros (about $92,250 U.S.).

The Caterham Suter racebike ridden by Johann Zarco finished on the podium during the season finale at Valencia, and includes the 2015-spec long chassis, a prototype swingarm, complete Moto2 engine, WP suspension, Brembo brakes, OZ wheels, a 2d data-logging system and a Graves Motorsports exhaust system. It’s listed at 65,000 Euros (about $79,950 U.S.)

The Caterham Suter ridden first by American Josh Herrin and then by Thailand’s Ratthapark Wilairot during the 2014 season is priced at 58,000 Euros (about $71,340 U.S.) but it has the non-updated 2014-spec chassis along with WP suspension, Brembo brakes, OZ wheels and Graves exhaust system.

The team is also selling a wide range of spare parts for the Suter chassis, including fairings, wheels, brake discs, swingarms, footpegs, fuel tanks, chassis set-up parts, wiring looms, etc.
