Tyler Scott, age 17, broke the lap record and took pole position during MotoAmerica Supersport qualifying Saturday at Barber Motorsports Park, in Birmingham, Alabama. Riding his Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki GSX-R750, Scott lapped the 2.3-mile track in 1:26.348, which eclipsed Josh Herrin’s All-Time Lap Record of 1:26.361.
Four-time AMA Pro Superbike Champion Josh Hayes was the best of the rest with a 1:26.764 on his Squid Hunter Racing Yamaha YZF-R6. Stefano Mesa earned the final spot on the front row with a 1:27.017 on his Tytlers Cycle Racing Kawasaki ZX-6R.
Starting from row two will be Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC’s Xavi Fores (P4 – 1:27.021), Scott’s teammate Teagg Hobbs (P5 – 1:27.272), and Disrupt Racing Suzuki’s Cory Ventura (P6 – 1:27.885).
