American Josh Herrin was understandably disappointed to learn last week that he had lost his ride on the AirAsia Caterham Moto2 World Championship team, but in spite of his two-year contract being broken, the reigning AMA Pro Superbike Champion says he is moving forward and exploring new opportunities for the future.

“It’s just a disappointing situation, obviously,” 24-year-old Herrin told Roadracingworld.com Monday. “I wanted to finish the season. This wasn’t something I agreed to do, so it’s definitely a bummer. I felt like the races were getting better. I really wanted to especially go to Sepang and Valencia, because those were the only two tracks that I would be able to ride on this year that I had track time on already.

“It wasn’t something we were really happy about. It was something that was out of our hands.”

Herrin told Roadracingworld.com that even though his situation became public just four days ago he’s been pleasantly surprised with the amount of interest that he has received from teams wanting to talk about his services.
