Team Traction Control at Thruxton BSB Rd 6
It seems impossible that it can only be halfway through Team Traction Control’s first season of racing in the British Supersport Championship. So much has happened already!
In the 5th round of the series at Brands Hatch, TTC debuted their all new Yamaha R6, the bike they hoped would give rider James Rispoli a real chance of battling with the front runners of the British Supersport Championship. Their decision to change to the R6 was vindicated immediately as James was suddenly posting competitive times in early practice. However, a huge crash in qualification put paid to a great result as James sustained a nasty ankle injury – but the promise of impressive results are clearly in the future for a fighting-fit Rispoli.
The time leading up to Thruxton has been all about Rispoli getting that ankle injury sorted and finding some fitness so he can take the fight to the leading riders. Team Principal Paul Bolwell got a plan together, “I’ve had Rispoli residing with me for the week, keeping him entertained whilst he’s off the bike. That’s been fun but it’s been all about spending a lot of time with the physio getting his ankle and knee worked on in time for the race at Thruxton,” said Bolwell.
James Rispoli will need to be on his toes too because as all racing fans will know, Thruxton is a fast and testing race track for any rider. This will be the young American AMA Champion’s first time visiting the Hampshire circuit, so he will need to learn the track quickly. When asked about that challenge James was upbeat: “I will be fit. I’ve been learning a lot of the tracks this year which has been fun but we will need to be patient. Obviously it’s going to be a lot easier once I have data and experience of all the tracks on the calendar. We have proven we have the speed and now we just need to build on our performance over a whole race weekend,” said Rispoli.
Bolwell added, “I’m excited for the trip to Thruxton too as it’s such a fast track, bumpy and with its very own unique character. It’s a world away from the circuits coming up like Assen, Silverstone, Donington… but that’s what makes the series so good, to have this massive variety in circuits,” said Bolwell.
Team Traction Control has got a fantastic talent on the bike – a very cool looking, and more importantly, a very competitive motorcycle. If Rispoli can learn the track and have some fitness by Saturday, TTC could be celebrating another action packed weekend.
