Bike Fest Headlines Busy Weekend at Miller Motorsports Park

Inaugural Octane Party scheduled for Sunday

TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH — Miller Motorsports Park is gearing up for Bike Fest, one of the season’s busiest and most action-packed weekends.

This Saturday and Sunday, July 26-27, two-wheeled action will be the headline attraction as WERA Motorcycle Roadracing makes its annual visit to Utah. The top pro-am motorcycle road racing series in North America will be joined by the Utah Sport Bike Association’s Vortex Masters of the Mountains Series on the high-speed, 3.05-mile, 15-turn Outer Course. Also on the schedule are the AMA Pro Supermoto and Utah Supermoto series, which will race on Miller Motorsports Park’s renowned Supermoto course at the Miller Kart Center.

All spectators arriving on motorcycles will be admitted free of charge. There will be a free gear check, and all motorcyclists are encouraged to enter their bikes in an informal show Saturday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. People’s Choice awards will be presented and $50 Maverik gift cards will be awarded to the winners in the following classes: Best Vintage, Best Custom, Best Cruiser, Best Sportbike, Best Dirt Bike and Best Scooter. A cookout with free hot dogs for spectators concludes activities from 5- 7:30 p.m.

There will also be four-wheeled action on Saturday, as the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series –Utah Region will hold Round 3 of their six-round 2014 championship on the Off-Road Short Course, and the Utah Kart Championship will contest Round 6 of their 10-round series at the Miller Kart Center.

On Sunday, the inaugural Octane Party, a show for cars and motorcycles, will take place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. It will feature the entire Larry H. Miller Total Performance Museum collection, which will include cars normally displayed at the Shelby American Collection in Boulder, Colo., and will mark the first time that the entire collection has been displayed in one place. This will be the kickoff event for the Beehive Drive, a charitable touring event that begins on Monday.

Owners of interesting cars, motorcycles and off-road vehicles are encouraged to display their cars at the Octane Party. The entry fee is $10 and registration is available at www.BeehiveDrive.org. Proceeds from the Octane Party and Beehive Drive will be donated to the Utah Highway Patrol’s Honoring Heroes Foundation, which benefits widows and orphans of fallen police officers and officers injured in the line of duty, as well as community grants and educational scholarships in the cities and towns visited by the Beehive Drive.

Other off-track activities on Sunday will include a stunt rider performing in the East Paddock and public kart rentals, which will be available from noon-1 p.m. and from 3:30-8:30 p.m.

Tickets for the weekend are priced at $10/day and $15/weekend for adults, with kids 12 and under admitted free of charge. Parking will be free.
