LB Racing Falls, Grease Monkey Flies in ASRA Team Challenge at NJMP

Millville, NJ– The AMA sanctioned ASRA Team Challenge Series presented by Michelin Tire visited the New Jersey Motorsports Park and the local hot shoes showed everyone how it was done.. From the green flag the looked like it was 7-lap sprint instead a 200 mile race with Push Racing, LB Racing, Togarot Racing and Grease Monkey Racing trading the front spot amongst themselves for the first two dozen laps until LB Racing was able to put a small gap between himself and the chasing pack. The LB Racing Suzuki 1000 with Lloyd Bayley built his lead over the field to nearly 2-laps until a crash in turn 3 on lap 74 damaged the bike beyond repair. That was the opening Grease Monkey Racing needed as longtime teammates Eric Helmbach and Alex Shaw brought the team’s BMW 1000 to the checkered flag and another win by 1-lap over the field. The battle for second in the Overall class went to Barry Motorsports on another BMW 1000 while the final podium step went to Pure Action Sports on a Yamaha 600. The win gives Grease Monkey Racing a 30-point lead in the championship after 5 rounds.

The GTO class was also won by Grease Monkey Racing with Barry Motorsports in second and Jinba Ittia with Joel Link and Matt Brown on a Yamaha 600 took third. The GTO win gives Grease Monkey Racing a 24-point lead in the championship over Martinez Racing while Barry Motorsports holds third place in the 2014 series with 3 more races to go.

In addition to placing 3rd Overall, Pure Action Sports ridden by Dustin Young and Mark Heckles was the GTU class winner over championship leader RnR Repsol with Rick Beggs and Jason Gibbens sharing the riding chores. The Faith on Wheels team of Lance Yeager and John Palmer put in a solid effort to finish just .488 seconds behind RnR Repsol and secure third place in GTU.

For the ultra competitive GTL class, it was no surprise that the Faceplant/Ducati Depot team would jump out in front but Mavros & Boy Racing kept them within sight until pit stops gave MBR the lead. All the Mavros & Boy’s hard work was for naught when a broken oil line sent the bike to the ground on lap 69. After that, it was smooth sailing for the Faceplant Ducati team and they cruised to their second win in a row for 2014. Second place for GTL went to the LWT Racer Team and the final spot on the podium went to Team Chadder from Brooklyn, NY. The win gives the Faceplant/Ducati Depot team a 12-point lead over Mavros & Boy heading into the final events of the season.
