TWO-WHEELED WARRIORS SUPPORT ARMED FORCES DAY AHEAD OF SCOTTISH BATTLE

Before fighting their own high-speed battles at Knockhill circuit in Scotland this weekend (27/28/29 June), stars of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship today showed their support for warriors of another kind by visiting the new Queen Elizabeth Air Craft Carrier at Rosyth Dockyards on the Firth of the Forth.

Ahead of Saturday’s Armed Forces Day, MCE BSB race winner Josh Brookes, Scotland’s Stuart Easton and young gun Dan Linfoot were given an exclusive look around the impressive 920 foot long vessel ahead of her Majesty naming the Carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth in a ceremony on 4 July 2014.

The riders met Chief Petty Officer Carl Vickers, Sensors Group Head for the Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier, and crew members of the 65,000 tonne Carrier, the biggest and most powerful surface warship ever constructed for the Royal Navy, ahead of the all-important races at the weekend. Members of the Carrier’s crew will visit the Knockhill circuit on Saturday to celebrate Armed Forces Day with the MCE BSB Championship contenders.

Chief Petty Officer Carl Vickers said: “The crew of the Queen Elizabeth were delighted to invite members of the British Superbike paddock down to see the new Naval Flag ship. QNLZ is the largest and most complex ship ever built for the Royal Navy and is due to be named by Her Majesty the Queen on the 4th July, just after the visit.

The Captain and the ships company are also excited about attending Knockhill circuit on Saturday to take part in a photo shoot, in order to promote Armed Forces Day. We very much appreciate the support of the British Superbike team and thank them for promoting Armed Forces Day.”
