K-Tech Suspension Equipped Riders Enjoy Success On Both Sides Of The Atlantic
Hearty congratulations to Houston Superbike’s Dustin Dominguez who took pole position for this weekend’s AMA Pro SuperSport races at Barber Motorsports Park on his Yamaha YZF 600 R6 equipped with K-Tech 20DDS fork cartridges and a 35DDS Pro rear shock. Celtic/Hudson Valley Suzuki’s Corey Alexander started third on the grid, also using K-Tech 20DDS fork cartridges and a 35DDS Pro rear shock. Miles Thornton rode hard to qualify in seventh position on the grid on his D&D Triumph 675R with K-Tech Suspension front and rear. Dominguez would go on to take second place in Saturday’s first race, Thornton riding hard to take fourth, with K-Tech equipped Wyatt Farris on his Celtic/HVMC Suzuki finishing seventh, and Alexander finishing thirteenth after a late race incident moved him back in the pack. Sunday’s second AMA Pro SuperSport race at Barber saw Dominguez advance to take the win and the top spot on the podium for the first time this season, with Alexander taking fourth place, his first weekend without a visit to the podium. Thornton brought home a respectable seventh place finish, with Farris working hard to finish twelfth.
In Italy at Misano, American PJ Jacobsen scored his first podium finish of the season with a third place finish in World SuperSport on his Intermoto Kawasaki ZX6R equipped with K-Tech Suspension 20DDS fork cartridges and a 35DDS Pro rear shock. The entire weekend was a battle of the top five riders with multiple battles for position with Jacobsen managing to avoid trouble and bring home a strong third place finish ahead of series veterans like Sofuoglu, Tamburini, and Zanetti.
K-Tech Suspension is pleased to offer the most advanced suspension technology for racing and street use. The 20DDS fork cartridges offer incredible feel and control, in a pressurized closed system with large fluid displacement, precision machined and anodized billet aluminum components, and wide range of adjustment. The 35DDS rear shock offers a unique By-Pass-Valve for low shaft speed compliance between the rebound and compression circuits, as well as a full range of adjustments including shock length, hydraulic spring preload, and 32 clicks of rebound and compression adjustment. Anne Roberts Satisfied with AMA SuperSport Debut at Barber
Leeds, AL – The Marietta Motorsports / N2 Trackdays R6, piloted by Anne Roberts, has been around Barber Motorsports Park during trackdays and WERA races many times. This weekend however, Roberts raced the Yamaha in her first AMA Pro Racing event. 25 year old Roberts realized her dream of competing in an AMA Pro SuperSport race since she first threw a leg over a street bike only four years ago!
Roberts was thrown straight into the fire as a new, shortened, race schedule didn’t have any practice time and instead went straight to qualifying. As Barber is considered one of Anne’s “home tracks” she was able to immediately put her head down to start cranking out hot laps. In only her third lap she turned the fastest she’d ever run at Barber and secured an 18th place on the grid. Feelings were mixed later in the day for the next qualifying session as Anne went even quicker but so did a lot of other racers bumping her down to a 24th starting position.
Saturday’s race 1 ended prematurely when Roberts’ motorcycle shut down on the front straight. Anne was able to safely exit the track at the very high-speed turn one. A fuel pump issue was the culprit and was easily repaired after the race. Anne’s crew-chief, Craig “Huey” Stewart commented “I’ve worked with Anne since her very first track and I can’t recall us ever having a ‘DNF (Did Not Finish) Mechanical’! It’s just one of those things that if we’re going to have something weird happen, to knock us out of a race; it’s going to be when everyone is watching. I’m glad we have another race to let her prove herself and get that finish.”
Race 2 went almost exactly as the team had planned. Roberts got a great start and went through turns one and two with a very large lead pack. “The first few laps of this race were a lot different than yesterday,” recalled Roberts. “Everyone thinned out pretty quickly. Saturday I was battling for positions in a pack of 10 or 12 people until lap three but today by the end of lap one I was pretty close to where I ended up finishing.” Roberts once again lowered her fastest time at Barber but like qualifying so did a lot of the other racers. Anne’s personal best of 1:34.3 during the 15 lap race earned her a 26th place finish in a field of 41. “The team’s goal this weekend was for a top 20 finish but we’re not unhappy with were we finished,” Roberts said. “Even with no practice, the (fuel) pump issue in race one and the heat I still went faster than I ever have here at Barber. I’m amazed at how close the times are between the top half of the field!”
Roberts continued by thanking her crew, “John Risconsin really helped me understand Barber at this new level of riding. I did a lot of track map and video study with him and Huey prior to the weekend and with him in the pits watching the monitors when I practiced, you would of swore he had been out riding with me! He always had more tips, more race line suggestions and was always on point. With John and Huey’s coaching, tuning and overall support I couldn’t have asked for a better crew. I’d also like to thank all the other racers and crew that welcomed and checked on me: John Ulrich; Chuck Graves; Tony, Cori and Bru from Dunlop; Brad and Eric from Ohlins; Brian J.; and you know you’re going to have an awesome weekend when you get a Facebook message saying ‘go get em girl!’ from someone you respect like Melissa Paris!”
Anne Roberts is primarily sponsored by Marietta Motorsports, N2 Trackdays (with whom she is also a control rider) and her own landscaping company Belle Landscape. Total Property Solutions, The Color Spot, Highside Photo and Fitzgerald Glider Kits were extremely instrumental in helping get Anne to her first pro race and looking great doing it. A “grassroots” funding drive from Roberts’ friends, fellow WERA racers and family helped defray the costs of her campaign. Notable contributors were Leigh and Judy Roberts, Walton and Joyce Stewart, Marianna Hudspeth and Margie Lee. “I’m humbled by the people that were eager to offer their support and help,” Anne said, “people with their own race programs, my family who’s always been supportive of my goals and friends who have followed my racing since I was on my SV650 made this weekend possible and I’d like to personally thank all of them. Posters and t-shirts will be in the mail as soon as I cool off!”
Anne Roberts Racing proudly uses and endorses products and services from the following companies: Marietta Motorsports, PitBull, Dunlop, Vortex, Ohlins, Galfer and Motul. YOSHIMURA SUZUKI FACTORY RACING DOUBLES UP ON SUPERBIKE PODIUM FINISHES AT BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK
Yoshimura Suzuki’s Chris Clark captured first career Superbike podium on Saturday, Martin Cardenas carded second place on Sunday
BIRMINGHAM, AL (June 23, 2014) – Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing celebrated two well-earned podium finishes at round three of the AMA Pro Superbike Championships at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL, this past double-header weekend. Yoshimura Suzuki’s Chris Clark brought home his first-ever, career AMA Pro Superbike podium in Saturday’s race, while teammate Martin Cardenas visited the podium for the fifth time this season after finishing second on Sunday.
Yoshimura Suzuki’s Cardenas started the weekend with a solid showing in qualifying, picking up a front-row starting position. In Saturday’s race, he got a good start but suffered an early-race get-off that resulted in no injuries but incapacitated his bike. Cardenas more than made up for that on Sunday, getting another good start on his Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000. He went on to battle with his teammate Roger Hayden over second place for most of the race but in the end, it was Cardenas who finished on the podium.
“After yesterday, this podium is a very good result for us,” said Cardenas. “I would have liked to get closer to the leader, but we gave it everything we had and I’ll happily take second today. I have to give it up to the Yoshimura Suzuki team. I’m so sorry for the crash yesterday; it caused them to have to stay very late to fix the bike last night. This podium is for them.”
Meanwhile, Saturday’s race was a spectacular one for Yoshimura Suzuki’s Clark. The young racer got a top-10 start and put himself into position to take advantage of other riders’ mistakes. As a result, Clark brought home not only his first Superbike podium but also his first AMA Pro Racing podium. He followed that up with a respectable performance on Sunday, finishing sixth.
“It’s incredible,” said Clark about his podium finish. “This is my first podium in AMA Pro and to do it in Superbike really means a lot to me. It was definitely a race of attrition, and I probably didn’t deserve it but I’ve got to give it up to the whole Yoshimura Suzuki team for all their support and hard work, and for giving me such a great bike as the Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000.”
Like teammate Cardenas, Yoshimura Suzuki’s Hayden started the weekend on a promising note, qualifying second on the grid. On Saturday, he got a great start on the Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000 and ran a strong second for most of the race, making several bids for the lead. Unfortunately, he wound up crashing in the same turn as Cardenas and was unable to finish. On Sunday, Hayden came back with a vengeance and slotted into second right off the start. He battled with Cardenas for the runner-up podium spot for most of the race before fading due to tire wear and finishing fifth.
“On the first day, I had a good pace going and was right there,” said Hayden. “But I made a mistake and lost the front end. On Sunday, I struggled to keep pace with the leader because of a severe lack of rear tire grip. I did the best I could, given the circumstances. I feel bad for the Yoshimura Suzuki team, especially because they worked until 1:30 Sunday morning to build me a new bike. I can’t thank them enough for all their hard work. I wanted to put on a good race for them but it just wasn’t in the cards. So we’ll to go Laguna and start fresh.”
Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s next event is the fourth round of the 2014 AMA Pro Superbike Championships during the weekend of July 11 – 13, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA.

Millennium Technologies’ Wyman rebounds from Harley crash for 11th place DSB result
LEEDS, Ala. (June 23) — Millennium Technologies rider Kyle Wyman rode to an impressive 11th place finish in Sunday’s AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike race at Barber Motorsports Park after a big crash in the earlier run AMA Pro Harley-Davidson series race.
Wyman was in a heated battle for second place at the time of his off, which left him and his Harley-Davidson XR1200 tumbling through the turn-two gravel trap and into the soft barrier.
“I was very lucky to come away with no broken bones on that one,” Wyman said. “I thought I had it saved, but I was still carrying a ton of speed when I ran off the track. Fortunate for me I was headed toward a small section of foam barrier about 20ft wide between large sections of armco.”
It was Wyman’s first crash of the season, and his first crash during a race since 2012.
“It was a shame because I got off to a really great start,” Wyman added. “I was having way too much fun out there and maybe got a little anxious with the throttle. I made a couple mistakes that I wasn’t too happy about, so I look forward to getting back out at the next one for some more redemption.”
The AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike race made up for lost laps, as a bruised Wyman gridded up and entered a race-long battle for the entirety of the 19-lap final.
“The DSB race was really tough physically, especially after being thrown off the Harley,” Wyman said. “We really made a huge step in the setup Sunday morning with the front end and I was looking forward to the race. We had much faster lap times in the race but were not very consistent. It will be good to rest up and come out swinging at Laguna Seca.”
Wyman still sits in 6th place in the points standings in the AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike Series, and dropped to 8th place in the AMA Pro Harley-Davidson Series.
The next event will take place at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, July 11-13, 2014.

More, from a press release issued by Riders Discount Triumph:
HOLLAND, Mich. (June 24, 2014) – After a blistering hot weekend at Barber Motorsports Park under the new two-day format, Riders Discount Triumph edges closer to the top spot in the AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike Championship. Thanks to some hard work by the crew and a little luck, Danny Eslick is now just 12 points behind Jake Gagne going into Laguna Seca where Eslick won last time he raced the GoPro Daytona SportBike class.
“I believe we had a solid bike but with the lack of testing it put us in a difficult position,” said Brian Gibson, Riders Discount Triumph team owner. “With the short two-day format we were chasing our tails. But all and all we came out of the weekend only 12 points out of the championship lead instead of 22 and we have to look at that as a success. The next round is at Laguna Seca where we have some data from 2013 when we raced with both Joey Pascarella and Jake Zemke, so that should help us hit the ground running a little faster than when we arrived at Barber.”
“This was the first time we’ve done the two day schedule for a race weekend and I think this was definitely not my weekend and things weren’t going properly,” said Riders Discount Triumph rider, Danny Eslick. “We started the day yesterday behind the 8-ball and whenever you have limited track time and limited qualifying, it’s hard to make up time. We were stuck in seventh, or eighth place in race one, but luckily we had a couple guys go off in front of us finishing fifth, and sixth overall in race two. After coming into this race 22 points down in the championship and leaving only 12 back, it’s not a terrible weekend. We’ll chalk it up as a completed weekend. We didn’t tear anything up, and we’ll move to Laguna and go get us a win.”
The FIM Superbike World Championship, GEICO Motorcycle U.S. Round at Laguna Seca is July 11-13.

Alexander & Farris Struggle During Third Round Of AMA Pro SuperSport At Barber
Celtic/Hudson Valley Motorcycles Suzuki’s Corey Alexander and Wyatt Farris worked hard all weekend and were not able to capitalize on earlier success. Alexander rode his #5 Celtic/HVMC Suzuki GSX-R 600 to take third place in qualifying, less than half a second off pole, with Farris qualifying in twelfth position on the grid on the #19 Celtic/HVMC Suzuki GSX-R 600. Alexander found Barber to be more demanding on his injured collarbone than Road America, and lacked some strength and endurance over the weekend. Both riders struggled to find speed and comfort at the technical Barber Motorsports Park circuit, with oppressive heat and humidity adding to the challenge. The compressed two day schedule also reduced the amount of time for the hard working Celtic/HVMC Suzuki crew to make adjustments for Alexander and Farris.
Saturday’s AMA Pro SuperSport race one began with Alexander moving into second position for the opening laps, and doing battle with Hayden Gillim, Dustin Dominguez, and Kaleb de Keyrel until lap eight when Alexander tucked the front end and slid into the gravel trap. Determined to score as many points as possible, Alexander rejoined the race in seventeenth position and worked his way up to finish a respectable thirteenth with a damaged machine. Wyatt Farris also had a good start to the race, and was engaged in a fight for sixth with Richie Escalante. Farris struggled to find a passing opportunity and would eventually finish a solid seventh.
Race two on Sunday saw Alexander slip to fourth position from the opening laps, and from there he would stay in touch with the lead pack of Dominguez, Gillim, and de Keyrel for about half of the race distance, when they started to open a greater gap. Alexander managed to avoid any incidents on Sunday, and brought home valuable points, finishing fourth. Alexander now shares the points lead with Gillim – tied at 141 points a piece, with Dominguez and Farris rounding out the top spots. Farris was unable to ride with the lead group on Sunday, and a small mistake allowed several riders to move past, shuffling him to twelfth position at the checkered flag. Farris is fourth in the points after Barber, just shy of third place in the standings.
Corey Alexander stated that “this weekend definitely didn’t go as planned. We made the most out of some bad luck, and the Celtic/HVMC Suzuki team worked so hard to make the bike better, but I couldn’t get the job done. Unfortunately we lost our lead in the championship and it’s all tied up but I’m confident we can get back to the front and do what we have to do as a team to take home this championship! Thanks to my guys Mark, Tim, Chris, Uncle Richie, and the team as a whole. As always, looking forward to the next round and better results. Thanks to the team sponsors and my personal sponsors alike.” Corey’s personal sponsors include: MJRS Freeman, Spidi Leathers, XPD Boots, Arai Helmets, Boxed Water Is Better, Defy All Odds Apparel, Oakley, Crossfit OSA, and Lapizta Watches. Wyatt Farris said “for one reason or another I struggled a great deal this weekend. The entire Celtic/HVMC Suzuki crew worked their butts off for me, and we were making steps in the right direction. I made a mistake in Sunday’s race that allowed five or six riders to get by me with just a handful of laps to go. I’m happy to get this weekend behind me, it’s time to turn our focus to Ohio and get back to where we belong at the front. I can’t thank my team, our sponsors, along with my personal sponsors, enough for making this all happen and their continued support.” Wyatt’s personal sponsors include: Jon Block Group, Cortech, Shoei, Defy All Odds Apparel, Above Category, and CT Racing. Leads, AL – June 21-22, 2014 – Jason Duplantis achieve a best result of 36th and 38th place at the AMA Pro Triumph Superbike Classic at Barber Motorsports park.
Jason Duplantis – “This weekend was dream only 3 years ago. We made some mistakes, but we learned a lot. Although we had a lot of things right, we showed up a little underprepared for this level of competition. I had never turned a lap on the Dunlop AMA spec tire and it had been almost 2 years since I had ridden at Barber Motorsports Park. Thankfully I have a great team that gave me a bike that worked really well from the opening laps. We were able to get up to speed and qualify 37th out of 50 riders without too much drama. I was having some issues physically maintaining a good pace on the bike over the course of the race and my results suffered some compared to my overall speed.
“The team worked really hard to set up the bike to help me from becoming fatigued so quickly, but in the end I just wasn’t as prepared as I could have been for this new level of racing. I am more determined than ever to improve my racing program to do more AMA races next year and do my best to represent my awesome sponsors. We have a great team, excellent equipment and a renewed drive to get faster. I would like to give a special thanks to my KWS/ Millennium Technologies crew for all their hard work this weekend. Michael Godin, Chris Cooke, Robert Leavitt, Mike Smith, Kelly Johnson and Emily Duplantis all did a fabulous job this weekend!”

Galfer USA Rider Westby Dominates Daytona SportBike at Barber
Oxnard, Calif. – June 24, 2014 – The AMA Pro Road Racing series headed to Alabama for round three at Barber Motorsports Park from June 21-22. Galfer USA riders claimed top-ten spots in all three classes, but none of them did it with more style than Dane Westby. His double Daytona SportBike victories came down to just a fraction of a second in each race.
SuperBike
In the SuperBike class, Chris Ulrich earned his best finish of the season in race two, taking seventh despite a ten-second penalty for jumping the start. In race one, Ulrich rode his No. 18 GEICO Honda/Team Hammer Honda CBR1000RR to 14th.
Chris Fillmore had a very different day. After finishing 12th in race one on his No. 11 KTM/HMC KTM RC8R, he was unable to finish race two.
Daytona SportBike
Dane Westby won both Daytona SportBike races in spectacular fashion. His No. 00 Yamalube/Westby Racing Yamaha YZF-R6 crossed the finish line by just a fraction of a second in both races.
In race one, Westby battled with JD Beach for 19 laps before winning by 0.310 seconds. Westby was not up front in the opening laps of race two, running as far back as sixth, but he worked his way up and finally crossed the finish line in the lead, with a narrow 0.235-second margin of victory.
Bobby Fong was third in race one on his No. 50 Latus Motorsports Triumph Daytona 675, but he was only 20th in race two. Jake Gagne paralleled Fong’s results. Gagne finished 21st in race one after a crash, but he went on to take third in race two on his No. 32 Red Bull/Roadrace Factory Yamaha YZF-R6.
Fong and Gagne were not the only riders to have uneven weekends, however. Castrol/Triumph/Sportbike Track Time’s Jason DiSalvo did not race on Saturday but more than made up for the late scratch with a fourth place finish on Sunday aboard his No. 40 Triumph Daytona 675.
Blake Young and Jake Zemke also had mirrored results. Young and his No. 79 GN Gonzales Racing Yamaha R6 were eighth and seventh in the two races. Meanwhile, Zemke finished seventh and eighth on his No. 98 GEICO Honda CBR600RR.
Benny Solis, riding his No. 35 Team H35 Honda CBR600RR, was fourth and ninth in the two Daytona SportBike races. His race one result is his best finish of the season so far.
Consistency was the theme of the weekend for Tomas Puerta, who finished tenth in both races on his No. 12 Red Bull/RoadRace Factory R6.
SuperSport
Miles Thornton was the top Galfer rider in SuperSport, finishing fourth in race one and seventh in race two. It is the best round so far for Thornton, who rides the No. 72 D&D Cycles Triumph Daytona 675.
Jason Aguilar was another rider who took home two tenth-place finishes. His Supersport ride is the No. 96 Tuned Racing Yamaha R6.
Other top-ten finishers included the Celtic Racing riders. Wyatt Farris was seventh in race one on the No. 19 Suzuki GSX-R600, while Corey Alexander was fourth in race two on his No. 5 Suzuki.
From the track to the street, Galfer USA distributes the full range of Galfer brake components.
