American Danny Eslick, a two-time AMA Pro Daytona SportBike Champion, won the Moto 1000 GP race during Round Two of the Brazilian National Championship June 15 at Interlagos, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Eslick, riding a JC Racing Kawasaki ZX-10R, qualified on pole position and won the 15-lap, 22-entry race by 0.105 second.

Finishing second on an Alex Barros Petronas Racing BMW was Frenchman Matthieu Lussiana, who leads the Championship point standings.

Brazil’s Wesley Gutierrez was third on his Motonil Motors Brazil Kawasaki ZX-10R.

The top six finishers were separated by less than one second at the finish.

“These guys made me work hard,” Eslick said in a post-race press conference. “It was just an awesome race. I got some rain drops on my visor there a little ways in and kind of backed off. I just didn’t want to crash. For me, I have some important work to do next week back in the States. I have to keep the electricity on back home and pay the bills. This was definitely a bonus to come down here and get a win under my belt, and I’ll definitely be going into the race at home with a lot of confidence.”
