The seventh round of the Moto2 Championship will take place at the prestigious Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Playing host to the top racing series in the world from MotoGP to Formula One, the 4.727 m state of the art race track combines long straights and a variety of turns, including five left corners and eights right corners.
Situated on the outskirts of the beautiful city of Barcelona the popular circuit attracts thousands of spectators every year and can hold a capacity of 104,000 people.
#5 Johann Zarco:
“I hope in Barcelona I can do better than Mugello and fight for the podium, but we will see.
“It is a fast track and the pace is so important, as well as starting on the front row because as soon as a rider breaks free from the group, it is very difficult to catch them.
“I think it will be very warm temperatures in Barcelona so it is important that I get a good feeling on the bike and into a rhythm quicker than I did in Mugello, as this will make it easier to do better.”
#2 Josh Herrin:
“The Barcelona GP will be another new track for me so hopefully I will learn it as quickly as I did in Mugello. I have more experience on the bike now which helps as I can concentrate on getting to grips with the circuit and gel with it early on.
“I’d like to be within two seconds of the leaders in free practice one so that I can continue to progress like everyone else throughout the sessions. This way we will have a better chance of qualifying higher up the grid. Qualifying from 25th place is not what I want. I have to be aiming for the top twenty so that I can make the most of my race start and fight to finish in the top fifteen. This is the goal for sure!”
Johan Stigefelt – Team Manager:
“Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is a very nice track. It’s quite long with some tricky corners. Especially for the right side of the tyre it will be quite demanding, as the grip level is not great. The track is not that difficult to learn but to go really fast is very hard.
“I think we can build further on the chassis setting that we did in Mugello for Johann and hopefully it will work in Barcelona too. For Josh it is again a new track so it will be all about learning on the first day and then seeing where he is. We are making good progress with the Caterham Suter and both riders have a lot more experience with the new bike now, so I hope for a good race in Barcelona.”
