Barcelona (Spain), Tuesday 27 May 2014 – Dorna WSBK is pleased to announce the deal reached with the iconic Italian brand Pantofola d’Oro, who becomes a new Official Supplier of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship.

The company has its roots in the handcrafting work of the shoe factory Lazzarini – founded in 1885 – that in the 40s started to make sporting shoes that were later named “Pantofola d’Oro”, from 1959 onwards. The brand is mainly linked to football but it is also present in several other sporting disciplines, from rugby to cycling and even fencing. Recently the company has been re-launching the brand, as well as starting a new ambitious project trying to expand its target range.

Kim Williams, CEO of Pantofola d’Oro and, together with President Massimo Ubaldi, co-protagonist of the brand’s rebirth:“We started an important recovery project of the company assets, trying to take the best out of the exceptional products stored in our archives. We started from football with the goal of expanding our range to everyday shoes, trying to adapt our unique style to today’s requirements. This is the reason behind our partnership with the Superbike World Championship; we want to obtain great visibility all over the work through the series, that like our brand is a mix of sport and excellence.”

Marc Saurina, WSBK Commercial and Marketing Director: “We start this new partnership with a historical and prestigious brand like Pantofola d’Oro and we hope it is going to be the first step of a long path together. Our aim is that such an important World brand can identify itself with the Superbike World Championship, leading to a continuing partnership through the years to come.”
