AMA PRO ROAD RACING RETURNS TO ROAD AMERICA FOR THE SUBWAY SUPERBIKE DOUBLEHEADER
– Four Classes, Seven Races and Non-Stop Excitement –
ELKHART LAKE, Wis., May 21, 2014 – America’s fastest production-based road racing motorcycles return to Road America May 30-June 1, as AMA Pro Road Racing makes its annual visit to Wisconsin for the AMA Pro Road Racing SUBWAY SuperBike Doubleheader.
The fast and flowing 4-mile road course at Road America is one of the most exciting and challenging tracks on the AMA Pro Road Racing calendar and will serve as the theater of war for round two of the 2014 AMA Pro Road Racing campaign featuring four different classes of motorcycles in a double-header format. The AMA Pro SuperBike, AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike and AMA Pro SuperSport classes will have races on both Saturday and Sunday, while the AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson series will race only on Sunday.
The on-track action gets underway at 12:00 p.m., on Friday, May 30, with practice and first qualifying sessions throughout the day. Final qualifying will take place on Saturday morning starting at 8:00 a.m., with a Fan Walk/Autograph Session in the hot pit lane scheduled for 12:00 p.m. The afternoon’s three races begin at 1:00 p.m., and the day will conclude with qualifying for the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson series at 3:50 p.m.
Sunday’s schedule starts with final qualifying for the Harley-Davidson group at 8:30 a.m., followed by warm-up sessions and the Fan Walk/Autograph Session that begins at 11:15 a.m. Sunday’s four races start at 12:15 p.m. and the day’s action will conclude at approximately 4:00 p.m.
Off the track, the Blain’s Farm & Fleet Motorplex will be open for public karting while also hosting the Wisconsin National Presented by Klutch Industries AMA Supermoto National Championship Series. Stunt riders Jason Britton and Bill Dixon will also be performing throughout the weekend in the paddock.
In addition to the racing action, fans with motorcycles are encouraged to pre-register for a unique ‘Salute to Cycles’ on-track riding experience presented by Innovative Technologies. The Salute to Cycles provides participants with the rare chance to ride the Road America circuit and develop a true appreciation for the undulating road course where pro racers battle it out for glory and fame. Fans can also check out the Dairyland Classic flat track races on Friday night in nearby Plymouth, Wis.
Gates will open to the public each day at 7 a.m., and admission is $90 for the 3-day weekend, $30 Friday, $45 Saturday and $45 Sunday. Kids 12 and under are always free with a paying adult. All races will run rain or shine. A tentative event schedule is available online at www.roadamerica.com
