Troy Herfoss Confirmed for Full Season with Team Honda Racing

8th May 2014 – Team Honda Racing is pleased to announce that New South Wales rider, Troy Herfoss will continue to compete in the 2014 Australasian Superbike Championship for Team Honda Racing. Herfoss raced at Round 1 ASC at Wakefield Park for the team as a substitute for the injured Josh Hook in March and will now round out a very strong quartet onboard the Honda CBR1000RR SP; joining Jamie Stauffer, Josh Hook and of course Wayne Maxwell onboard the Motul Honda CBR1000RR SP.

Herfoss is excited about the opportunity, “I am really pleased to have the chance to continue competing with Team Honda Racing. Round 1 at Wakefield Park went really well and I enjoyed working with the team. Now, to compete for the whole season knowing that I go to every race event with the most competitive bike and the most proven team in Australian Road Racing is just fantastic. The 2-day test went well although personally I was a little cautious as I don’t know the circuit well and it was the first time for my mechanic, Jason and I to work together on our own. I have a lot left in me and we gained so much from the test. I believe we have what we need to be competitive at the front again at Round 2 in a couple of weeks.”

Team Honda Racing came out all guns blazing at Wakefield Park with Stauffer taking the Round 1 win and the team is determined to make their 2014 Superbike campaign a success. The 2-day test just completed at Mallala Raceway in South Australia has given the team a lot to take back to team HQ as they prepare for Round 2 ASC to be held 16th – 18th May.

Team Principal, Paul Free is very pleased with the direction of his team, “To sign Troy for the season seemed to be the natural progression of things after Round 1 at Wakefield Park. We are really pleased to have him onboard and it will be fantastic to see such a strong presence for Team Honda Racing and indeed the Honda brand out on track all year. All 4 riders will do Honda proud and I am really excited about the racing ahead. The test at Mallala was very valuable for us. We haven’t raced there for a number of years and it is a very technical circuit so it was good to take the CBR1000RR SP through its paces. Wayne is still injured from a crash overseas recently, but still managed to get the most out of his Motul Honda over the two days. Jamie was consistently fast and I believe it is a circuit he enjoys. All 4 riders look strong in testing and I feel confident that we will be competitive at Round 2.”

Testing now complete, the team now prepares for the second battle of the Superbikes at Mallala circuit on 16th – 18th May and with a 4-strong Honda rider line up it will be an event not to be missed.
