Cameron Petersen led MotoAmerica Steel Commander Superbike Free Practice One (FP1) Friday morning at Ridge Motorsports Park, in Shelton, Washington. On board his Attack Performance/Progressive Yamaha YZF-R1 on Dunlop Sportmax Slick control tires, Petersen covered the 2.5-mile road course in 1:41.529.

Petersen’s teammate Jake Gagne, the three-time and defending Champion, was second-best with a 1:41.689.

Josh Herrin made it tight at the top with a time of 1:41.700 on his Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati Panigale V4 R.

Hayden Gillim was fourth-fastest with a 1:41.894 on his Real Steel Motorsports Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, which is more of a Stock 1000 bike than a Superbike.

Cameron Beaubier was fifth with a 1:42.324 on his Tytlers Cycle Racing BMW M 1000 RR in spite of breaking his right heel less than four weeks earlier.

Herrin’s teammate Loris Baz did a 1:42.466, which put him sixth in the order.

In spite of riding with an injured shoulder from a crash less than two weeks ago at Brainerd, Xavi Fores did a seventh-quickest 1:42.669 on his Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki GSX-R1000R.

Bobby Fong, the current Championship points leader, was eighth in the opening practice with a 1:43.100 on his Wrench Motorcycles Yamaha YZF-R1.

Sean Dylan Kelly’s best lap time of 1:43.493 on his EasyHealthPlans.com/TopPro Racing BMW was good enough for ninth.

Beaubier’s teammate JD Beach rounded out the top 10 with a 1:43.668.
