Aaron Dreher, the father of MotoAmerica racers Avery, age 18, and Ella Dreher, age 14, died July 11 while driving to a race event at Roebling Road Raceway, according to a social media post by Ella Dreher.
“I wish I never had to make this but, my dad who was always there for me when I needed him and pushed me to be who I am today passed away yesterday 7-11-2024. We where driving to @roeblingroadraceway for an endurance race when he passed out driving and @averydreher99 had to stop the truck and we gave him CPR while the ambulance showed up and brought him to the hospital when 30 minutes later they broke the news that they couldn’t get him back. I will always be thinking of you forever and I will always be strong for you and never give up when times are hard. I’m gonna make you proud and do everything I can to help our family out. I’m gonna win for you and be a champion. You are in a very special place in my heart and no one can take that away. I wasn’t ready for you to go but I know everything happens for a reason. I love you so much and will always be thinking of you.”

Update: On July 11, Aaron Dreher was driving the Bad Boys Racing pickup truck and trailer to an N2/WERA National Endurance Race at Roebling Road Raceway. Shortly after passing through Jacksonville, Florida, northbound on I-95, Dreher suddenly clutched his chest and passed out unconscious, according to lifelong friend and team member John Ludwig, who was in the back seat of the truck.
Avery Dreher jumped from the passenger seat onto the center console and managed to get the truck stopped. “He was our hero,” wrote Ludwig.
Ludwig pulled Aaron Dreher out of the truck and started performing CPR while Avery and Ella Dreher called for help. Once help arrived, Aaron Dreher was transported to a local hospital, but he was pronounced dead due to an apparent heart attack. He was 48 years old.
Aaron Dreher is survived by friend Ludwig; sons Brady, Avery, and Carter; and daughter Ella. Ella and 11-year-old Carter were also in the truck at the time.
At Avery and Ella Dreher’s last MotoAmerica race, at Brainerd International Raceway, they both finished on the podium in Junior Cup Race One, becoming the first brother-and-sister duo to accomplish that feat in the history of the organization.
