Two-time MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo underwent surgery on his left collarbone and right thumb December 16 in Spain, according to the official website of the MotoGP World Championship. A team of surgeons removed 11 screws and titanium plates from the left collarbone Lorenzo broke in a crash at Assen and re-injured in a crash at Sachsenring during the 2013 season and performed repairs to his right thumb, which was injured in 2010. “Yesterday I had a surgery and doctors remove the plate from my left collarbone and my right thumb. I am fine & ready to start the new year!” Lorenzo tweeted Tuesday. Lorenzo is expected to receive a check up before the end of December and resume training early in 2014 in preparation for pre-season testing, which begins in February.
