More World Championship Riders Draw Penalty Points, At Sepang

2013 FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix – Decision of the Race Direction On 13 October, 2013 during the Moto2 Warm Up session of the Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix, rider number 40 Pol Espargaro crossed in front of the riders stopped in the Practice Start Zone, impeding the progress of another rider making a practice start. Espargaro then made a practice start outside of the official Practice Start Zone. This is considered to be irresponsible riding causing danger to other riders and is therefore an infringement of Articles 1.21.2 and 1.21.16 of the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations. Race Direction held a hearing at the Sepang Circuit on 13 October 2013 and has decided to impose the addition of one Penalty Point to the record of rider number 40 Pol Espargaro for the 2013 season, according to Article 3.2.1. of the 2013 FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Disciplinary and Arbitration Code. No appeal has been lodged. The decision of Race Direction is final. At the time Viñales was riding beside Miller, fully aware that the other rider was there and his manoeuvre resulted in contact with Miller. This is considered to be irresponsible riding causing danger to another rider and is therefore an infringement of Article 1.21.2 of the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations. Race Direction held a hearing at the Sepang Circuit on 13 October 2013 and has decided to impose the addition of one Penalty Point to the record of rider number 25 Maverick Viñales for the 2013 season, according to Article 3.2.1. of the 2013 FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Disciplinary and Arbitration Code. No appeal has been lodged. The decision of Race Direction is final.
