Jimmy Moore, the 2001 and 2002 AMA Pro 750cc Superstock Champion, is moving his family to Anchorage, Alaska and hopes to open an indoor BMX and skate park there. Moore is originally from Alaska but moved to Oregon to race motorcycles and was based in Eugene during his AMA Pro career. He is married to Kara and has a five-year-old son, Gus. Moore said his motivation to do the indoor BMX and skate park is his son Gus. “Being self-employed as a racer, there was no point doing a babysitter or day care,” Moore said. “I went from being a pro racer to being a stay-at-home father and it turned out to be one of the best jobs I’ve had in my life. I never thought it would be that much fun. I am not trying to groom a racer, but his abilities on two wheels are just insane. I reckon it’s monkey-see, monkey-do.” Moore called roadracingworld.com with the news on Wednesday afternoon.
