UtahSBA Previews Final Round of Masters of the Mountain Series October 2, 2013. Tooele Utah – Utah Sportbike Association (UtahSBA) will wrap up its 9th consecutive season this coming weekend with the final round of the Masters of the Mountains race series at Miller Motorsports Park. The 2013 season has been one charged with excitement and very close racing – the ultimate round of the championship should be no exception. Round 5 saw Canadian rider Peter de Graff sitting only 17 points adrift from local racer Oleg Pianykh in the highly contended King of the Mountain series. Pianykh secured the ‘King of the Mountain’ title in 2012 and so far has won three of the six rounds this season. Although Pianykh is presently seeded with a relatively comfortable margin, a DNF [by Pianykh] could still leave de Graff with a theoretical chance of securing the title in 2013. Always a tenacious opponent, de Graff has raced his Suzuki GSX-R 1000 to a consistent podium finish all season and will be eager to score maximum points on Sunday. In the hotly contested Novice GTU class, the young Devon Husband will be looking to wrap up his inaugural season in securing the Novice GTU Championship sponsored by Honda/Suzuki of Salt Lake. Kawasaki mounted Husband has emerged as the most improved rider amongst the rookies, displaying remarkable consistency and maturity with four first place finishes in the Novice GTU class and bolstered by another three wins in the Combined GTU class. The UtahSBA season finale at Miller has always had a special atmosphere and has become a major highlight of the year as competitors reflect on their season and make that final charge to grasp the remaining points available. The UtahSBA has made some special concessions [for the final round] in honoring 2011 and 2012 race licenses. This will provide ex-racers the opportunity to come and race the final round of the year. In addition, Saturday afternoons Endurance Race has been extended to 2.5hrs this will be followed with a club hosted barbecue and also scooter races on the kart track. The Masters of the Mountains is a motorcycle road racing series organized by the Utah Sport Bike Association, held at Miller Motorsports Park, and sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA). The UtahSBA is a member-based, non-profit organization, committed to furthering motorcycle road racing, rider education and safety.
