2013 Daytona SportBike Champ Beaubier Says “Y.E.S.” To A Dominant Sunday Win For Yamaha Extended Service/Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha At New Jersey Motorsports Park Millville, NJ – September 15, 2013 – In his first race as 2013 AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike Champion, Cameron Beaubier rode a blistering pace on his #6 Y.E.S./Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R6 to win Sunday’s DSB Race 2 at New Jersey Motorsports Park. By the time he took the checkered flag, Cameron–who was clearly the class of the field–had pulled a gap of more than seven and a half seconds over his notably fast teammate Garrett Gerloff in second place. Also, along the way, Cameron recorded the fastest lap of the race, which was actually faster than his record-breaking lap in Friday’s qualifying session. It was his 11th win out of 12 races, in a season in which the northern California phenom has racked up more victories in a single season than any DSB rider in AMA Pro Racing history. “It was a relief wrapping up the championship yesterday,” Cameron said. “So, going into today, I felt good, and I was happy that I could just ride with no pressure. I was able to ride a little more aggressively knowing that I had secured the title.” Garrett, aboard the #8 Y.E.S./Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha R6 rode a very strong race at a track on which he’s had much success in his young career. For the likeable Texan, it was his eighth podium finish of the season. Garrett said, “My first start wasn’t too good, but on the restart, I got a pretty good jump, and I was able to get up front and ride smooth laps. I couldn’t catch my teammate, so I decided to ride my own race and maintain my position till I saw the checkers.” The Y.E.S./Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha team will be back in action during the weekend of September 27 through 29 for the World Superbike Weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA. It will be the final event of the season for the AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike series.
