More Podium Places The Aim For KRT Riders WSBK, Nürburgring, Germany, 27 August 2013 Tom Sykes and Loris Baz have each recently underlined their race-winning status on the KRT Ninja ZX-10R and now they return to SBK action at the famous Nürburgring full of confidence and expectation. Baz was the most recent race winner for Kawasaki, at Silverstone last time out, making that his fifth podium in SBK racing in 37 starts. The combination of Baz and Sykes has delivered six wins for Kawasaki’s official team in 2013 already. Sykes had the first of his ten career race wins for Kawasaki, in horribly wet conditions, at the Nürburgring in 2011. Since then winning and scoring other podium finishes has become an even more regular occurrence for Tom who was the championship runner-up in 2012. Sykes is currently only 13 points from the leading rider Sylvain Guintoli despite two challenging races at Silverstone, which saw him off the home podium on both occasions. After a long summer break in the calendar Sykes is hungry to get back into race action, to make the most of the rest of the year. The season has been cut to five remaining rounds (including Germany) after the planned finale in India in November was recently cancelled. Baz is classified sixth in the championship right now but shares the same 180 points total as the rider in an official fifth place, who is ranked one place higher because he has scored more race wins this year than Loris. The French rider, still only 20-years-of-age, enjoyed his summer vacation from race action by holidaying in Spain and Loris is heading to Germany to restart the hard work knowing that more podiums are possible from now until the end of the year. SBK rider Federico Sandi (Kawasaki Team Pedercini) heads to Germany in company with stand-in rider Mark Aitchison (Kawasaki Team Pedercini) as regular rider Alex Lundh continues his recovery from recent injuries. Jeremy Guarnoni from the MRS Kawasaki Team is top placed Ninja ZX-10R rider in the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup right now, third, with Leandro Mercado and Lorenzo Savadori fifth and sixth respectively for the Kawasaki Pedercini Team. Tom Sykes: “I am really excited about racing again this coming weekend in Germany. I spoke to my crew chief Marcel Duinker last night and a three-week break has been good for us. I have enjoyed my time at home and with the busy month we have coming up in September I have been doing some good training in readiness for three races in quick succession. I am ready go, I feel fit and I am fully recharged. I like the circuit in Germany and the Ninja ZX-10R has been strong there in the past so I am looking forward to this weekend.” Loris Baz: “After the win at Silverstone my confidence is really good. Races like Assen and Silverstone went really well but we knew that some other tracks in the season would not be the best for me. Now, after Silverstone, there are only good tracks coming for me. I like the Nürburgring and I have shown in the past few races that I can ride well in different conditions. I would like it to be dry, but if it is wet it is no problem for me.”
