Yamaha U.S. Road Racing Teams Aiming For More Perfection This Weekend At Miller Motorsports Park Cypress, CA – August 1, 2013 – Looking to keep their string of pole positions, race victories, and most laps led alive, the Yamaha U.S. Road Racing Teams will be in the Salt Lake City area for this weekend’s GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing round at the 3.05-mile, 15-turn Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT. MONSTER ENERGY/GRAVES/YAMAHA: HAYES & HERRIN In an awe-inspiring display of team prowess at the U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca less than two weeks ago, three-time reigning AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike Champion Josh Hayes and his Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha teammate Josh Herrin went 1-2 to match the competition numbers emblazoned on their Yamaha YZF-R1 SuperBikes. Both riders will resume their friendly battle this weekend at Miller, with a scant 11 points separating current points leader Hayes from Herrin, who is in second place in the 2013 SuperBike Championship. Hayes has won every pole position so far this season, which is five in a row, along with six out of nine races. Herrin has won two races and has kept himself very much in the hunt for his first SuperBike title. Last year at Miller, Hayes and Herrin went 1-2 just as they did two most recently at Laguna Seca. Look for the two Joshes up front and racing hard for the wins again this weekend. Both riders consider Miller Motorsports Park to be one of their favorite tracks on the AMA Pro Racing schedule. YAMAHA EXTENDED SERVICE/MONSTER ENERGY/GRAVES/YAMAHA: BEAUBIER & GERLOFF In the AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike class, Cameron Beaubier, rider of the #6 Y.E.S./Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R6, and his teammate Garrett Gerloff, who pilots the #8 R6, equaled the performances of their Yamaha SuperBike colleagues by also going 1-2 at Laguna Seca. Cameron mirrored three-time SuperBike champ Josh Hayes in also recording a perfect weekend of earning the pole, winning the race, and leading the most laps in the race. For the 20-year-old northern Californian, it was his third perfect-points weekend in a row and seventh DSB victory out of eight races as he rides an incredible wave of consistent success. Garrett was all smiles at Laguna Seca as he raced to second place for the second time this season. All told, the Texan who, incidentally, turns 18 years old today (Happy Birthday, Double-G!) has had seven top-five finishes out of eight races so far this season. Both Cameron and Garrett enjoy Miller Motorsports Park, and Garrett, in particular, considers Miller to be one of his home tracks since he’s raced there more than on virtually any other racetrack in the U.S. FOLLOW THE YAMAHA U.S. ROAD RACING TEAMS CBS Sports Network will be broadcasting all weekend long from Miller Motorsports Park, so check your local listings and be sure to tune in or set your DVR so you can re-live all the exciting action that you saw in person while you were at the track.
