Combat Veterans Outreach Rolls into Barber Upper Arlington, OH – Veterans Empowered Through Motorsports (VETM) disabled combat veteran crews roll into Barber Motorsports Park this weekend. Local combat veterans will be placed in two AMA Pro Road Racing teams this weekend; the #70 Harley-Davidson of James Gang / Hoban Brothers entry in the AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series and with M.O.B. Racing.
Paul James, who rode the #70 Harley-Davidson to a top-10 finish at Road America, will host a combat veteran and her care giver from Fort Benning, GA area.
“This is our third race weekend working with the Veterans Empowered Through Motorsports program, and we look forward to another rewarding experience as we work together as a team to compete in the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson series. We’re top 10 in points going into Barber and looking forward to continuing our momentum there,” said team co-owner and rider Paul James.
Adding to the outreach this weekend will be New Jersey’s M.O.B. Racing. Team owner Dennis Espinosa will place combat veterans from the Tennessee and Alabama area within M.O.B. racing.
“Veterans Empowered Through Motorsports has done some great things by utilizing these men and women in the AMA Paddock. From what we’ve seen this is fantastic idea! Having worked with and employed many combat veterans in the aviation industry, I know first-hand the attention to detail and dedication they bring to work with them, which is the same they used to defend our country around the world. I’m honored to have them join our team and want to thank Pete (Cline) and his organization for making it possible,” said Espinosa.
Peter Cline, Founder VETM, added, “We are really looking forward to Barber this weekend. We learned quite a bit at Road America when we worked within the SuperSport class. As an outreach program we are always looking to improve, and we are going to bring in some additional veteran components this weekend. Working with James Gang / Hoban Brothers this season has been critical for us. And now for Dennis (Espinosa) at M.O.B. Racing to ask us to come in and assist them is great.”
