Pole Position Travel honored Kevin Schwantz with a dinner held in downtown Austin, Texas on April 19th, the Friday of the MotoGP weekend at the nearby Circuit Of The Americas. The first link seen below leads to Pole Position Travel’s web page about the event, including a photo gallery and a video. In the video, racer and Roadracing World founder John Ulrich introduces Kevin and talks about the tryout that launched Kevin’s professional career; Kevin then answers questions from the enthusiastic audience and tells stories about his life as a Grand Prix racer. http://galleries.polepositiontravel.com/MotoGP_2013/Kevin_Schwantz_dinner.html The link below leads directly to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_NGb0LK5Os&feature=youtu.be (Extemporaneous introduction speech memory corrections: Wes Cooley rode a Honda V4 in the April 1985 AMA Superbike Pro-Am race that Kevin Schwantz won at Willow Springs. Schwantz’s repass of John Ulrich in Turn Eight at Willow Springs was in late 1985, not three years after the 1984 WERA 24-Hours West. Slide show caption clarification: Schwantz’s victory at Donington Park in 1994 was his 25th and final Grand Prix win, not his 25th and final Grand Prix race.)
