GEORGIA, VIRGINIA RIDE FOR KIDS DONATIONS TOP $208,000 Motorcyclists in Alpharetta, Ga., and Mechanicsville, Va. joined Ride for Kids on June 2 to help make a difference for children fighting brain tumors. The events had raised more than $208,000 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation as of press time. The events honored young brain tumor survivors and their families. Motorcyclists’ fundraising efforts support the PBTF’s mission to eliminate the challenges of childhood brain tumors. “Because of funding we have great new surgical tools that help more kids go home. Now we have targeted radiation causing much less damage than in the early days,” said Dr. William Boydston of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The Atlanta and Virginia events are still collecting donations online at www.rideforkids.org. Fundraisers will receive incentive credit through July 2. ABOUT RIDE FOR KIDS Ride for Kids is now in its 30th year of raising awareness and funds for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. These fun-filled, family-friendly motorcycle rides take place in more than 40 cities across the country. More than 28,000 people in the United States are living with the diagnosis of a childhood brain tumor, and 11 more cases are identified each day. Motorcyclists have helped the PBTF become the world’s largest non-governmental source of funding for childhood brain tumor research. Our programs also include free educational information about brain tumors, Internet conferences and college scholarships. American Honda is the presenting sponsor of Ride for Kids.
