Sonomafest Returns to Sonoma Raceway for Five Days of Motorcycle Action, May 1-5 SONOMA, Calif. (April 29, 2013) – The Sonoma Raceway road course will come alive this week with five days of two-wheel action at Sonomafest, May 1-5. Sonomafest 2013 will feature plenty of on-track action on the 12-turn road course, as well as a charity track day, group motorcycle ride and Supermoto racing. On track, fans will enjoy racing from American Federation of Motorcyclists (AFM), American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) and 3J’s Track Days. For complete information on these five days of motorcycle madness in the Sonoma Valley, visit www.racesonoma.com/sonomafest or call 800-870-RACE (7223). 3J’s Motorcycle Track Day, May 1 The 18th 3J’s Motorcycle Track Day will kick off the festivities with a full day of riding on the 12-turn road course, a catered lunch, T-shirt, raffle and an evening reception for all riders on Wednesday, May 1. It’s the perfect day for any two-wheel enthusiast, and it’s all in the name of charity, as proceeds benefit Speedway Children’s Charities, the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway. 3J’s Motorcycle Track Days events have raised more than $275,000 for worthy causes since 2003. AHRMA Vintage Racing, May 2-3 AHRMA (www.ahrma.org), the largest vintage racing group in the country, returns to Sonoma Raceway after an 11-year hiatus for two full days of vintage motorcycle racing, May 2-3. The National Historic Cup Road Race Series will feature nearly 250 entries, with practice and racing slated for both Thursday and Friday. The series features approximately 70-percent vintage motorcycles and 30-percent modern bikes competing in up to 42 different classes. All classes are based on original racing classes from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s, as well as a pre-1940s class featuring hand-shifted motorcycles. Tickets are $10 per day or $20 for a four-day pass; kids 12 and under are free. RKA/Sonoma Raceway Wine Country Ride, May 4 Riders can enjoy a scenic group ride from the track on Saturday, May 4, with the RKA/Sonoma Raceway Wine Country Ride. The ride, which will be organized by RKA, will include a scenic cruise through the Sonoma Valley and a stop for lunch before concluding back at the raceway. AFM Racing, May 4-5 The popular AFM series (www.afmracing.org) will headline the weekend with more than 200 riders competing in a wide range of categories – from novice to expert. Classes include Production, Superbike and Formula, with the best and quickest riders competing head to head in the premier AFM Formula Pacific Challenge. The weekend will feature practice and qualifying on Saturday, with main events slated for Sunday. Tickets are $10 per day or $20 for a four-day pass; kids 12 and under are free. Supermoto USA, May 4-5 The weekend will also feature Supermoto USA (www.supermotousa.com) at the Sonoma Raceway Karting Center with racing slated for Saturday-Sunday, including an Unlimited Pro contest on Saturday afternoon. Race fans will be treated to action-packed racing on the three-quarter mile, 16-turn track, which is a combination of asphalt and dirt. It’s one of the most challenging tracks on the Supermoto USA circuit.
