Defending AMA Pro Superbike Champion Hayes Anxious For The Talking To Stop And The Riding To Start

There were just two things on the mind of three-time and defending GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro National Guard Superbike Champion Josh Hayes Wednesday at Daytona International Speedway: putting an end to the off-season and its chatter and getting out on track and doing some riding. “I’ve done a lot of interviews about a lot of different things during the off-season,” Hayes told Roadracingworld.com Wednesday while his Monster Energy Graves Yamaha team got set up for the 2013 season-opener. “There’s been a lot more talking than there has been riding. We haven’t done much testing and stuff. There’s not a lot new on my end. A few things have been shaking up in the paddock. I’m just anxious to get out on the racetrack. I’m tired of talking about what’s going to happen. I’m ready to get out there and have everyone show what they can do and show what I can do. I’m looking forward to tomorrow. I can’t get today done quick enough. “It’ll be interesting to get out there and see how the first session goes down. Everybody’s got some new bits. They changed the rules up. Everybody has the camshafts a little bit bigger now. So we might see who got some big gains out of it and who didn’t. The bodywork rules have changed a little bit, but I kind of think that’s the same for everybody. But like the camshaft rule, who is that going to hurt the most? Who is that going to help the most? I don’t really know. “There’s all of this anticipation of what’s going to happen, who is going to do what. I’m anxious to get out on the racetrack and see it in real time, see what really happens.” Hayes starts the defense of his title and his bid for a fourth straight AMA Pro Superbike Championship when practice starts at 10:15 a.m. EDT Thursday. The two Superbike races are scheduled to be held at 4:00 p.m. EDT Friday and at 11:00 a.m. EDT Saturday.
