Bob Hansen, a former racer, race tuner, race team manager and AMA Hall of Famer, died February 17. He was 93. Hansen began racing as a teenager in the 1930s, served in the military during World War II, worked as a racebike tuner in the 1950s and opened one of the first Honda dealerships in the Midwest in the 1960s, according to the AMA Hall of Fame Museum. Hansen later went to work for American Honda in its service department and in leading some of its racing efforts, including winning the Daytona 200 with Dick Mann in 1970. Shortly after that win, Hansen was hired away to run the racing efforts of Kawasaki, and he led them to their first AMA National race win with Yvon Duhamel.
