Harrison Ringel plans busy comeback season Harrison Ringel, age 15, was off to a perfect and blazing start to his 2012 season. Riding an SV650 for the first time after stepping up from mastering the Ninja 250 and winning titles at the GNF previously, he was fast out of the gate. His first weekends were at Roebling Road and Summit Point with CCS and WERA in the lightweight expert classes. Both tracks were unfamiliar to him and he was up front in a short time, finishing on the podium several times. He also spent a very short time practicing on his GSX-R600 which he planned to ease into and race later in the season after a good amount of seat time on the SV’s. He set a goal of making the AMA SuperSport round at NJ late in the season. All those plans went silent when he was learning the NJ track and on his first full lap of practice, took a hard fall in the chicane, landing Shoei first and then being run over by a rider who had no chance of reacting. The result was a severe concussion to an extent that it put him out for the remainder of the season. The season plans were for an aggressive mixed schedule of CCS and WERA to take advantage of as many different tracks to learn as possible. He is hitting the reset button and when asked if he wanted to chase points and championships, he responded, “I just want to chase fast guys wherever they go and take it race by race.” Harrison is no stranger to overcoming obstacles. He was diagnosed with Leukemia at 12 yrs. old and beat it over a three year period in part with his huge passion for racing that he acquired so far back he can only go by stories from his parents about it. 2012 was to be the real comeback season as he celebrated his ending of chemo treatments, but he was dealt a different hand, so 10 months later when he hits the grid soon, he will be even stronger. He has been training hard in preparation for the upcoming season. His moniker and logo of “Super H” which he proudly wears has well earned meaning as he showed how determination can be as important as medical treatments by bouncing back from a Chemo induced stroke in days to the near disbelief of doctors. Look for him at several CCS and WERA events this season in Mid Atlantic and Southeast tracks with his team. You can’t miss the “Super H” logo. He has his AMA SuperSport license and plans to put it to use at least once in 2013.
