Attack Performance Racing has applied for and has been granted wild card entries for all three of the MotoGP rounds that will take place in America in 2013. The three American MotoGP rounds are scheduled for April 19-21 at Circuit of the Americas, in Austin, Texas; July 19-21 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, in Monterey, California; and August 16-18 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Team Owner Richard Stanboli said he plans to continue development of his custom APR machine, which features a one-off, billet aluminum chassis and modified Kawasaki powerplant, within the Claiming Rules Team (CRT) format. Steve Rapp raced the APR to 14th place in the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix in 2012. Stanboli said he plans to add a custom crankshaft and custom camshafts to the ZX-10R-based engine to allow for an “uneven” firing order, similar to the Yamaha YZF-R1, for the races in 2013. “In the slow, first-gear corners at Indy we couldn’t use full power,” Stanboli told Roadracingworld.com. “We were cutting down to 60-70% power and even then we had to be real careful about how we fed the power back in so it didn’t spool up too quick or wheelie too much. When we put the heavier crank in on the second day [at Indianapolis] it made it better and it didn’t give up too much on turning side-to-side. But we want the best of both worlds.” Stanboli also said he has no current plans to return to the AMA Pro Superbike Championship in 2013.
