Team Go & Fun Honda Gresini rider Alvaro Bautista managed 24 laps in the dry before lunch and 15 in the wet during the afternoon. With 33°C temperatures and 65% humidity the Spaniard stopped the clock at 2’02.19, which compares to his qualifying time at the recent Malaysian Grand Prix of 2′ 01.64. Despite the mixed conditions the opening day has already provided a valuable opportunity to try a series of suspension updates brought by Showa, which will form the basis of the next two days of the test.
