MUENCH returns to Daytona Final e-bike race commemorates “žDaytona Bomb” from 1970 Cassel/Wurzburg/Daytona. It happened 42 years ago in Daytona, USA. MUENCH tried to reach for the one-hour-world record for the fastest and most enduring motorcycles. On October 20th, 2012 the team around current company boss and Wurzburger entrepreneur Thomas Petsch will once again compete in Daytona. This time they entered the race for the TTXGP World Championship title for e-motorcycles. In 1970 Ferdinand Kaczor already raced on the speedway’s asphalt with an impressive speed of 284km/h. This was only possible because of the superlative Big-Bike, the so-called ” Daytona Bomb”. This motorcycle was based on the 1200 MÃœNCH-4 TTS and achieved 125PS at 8600 revolutions per minute, a tremendous achievement for the time. That was why Ferdinand Kaczor was able to race one lap after another and everyone was certain that due to the sophisticated MUENCH-engineering Mike Hailwodd’s (MV Agusta) fast one-hour world record of 233km/h was soon to be broken. Unfortunately it was not meant to be, because there was one thing the German premium manufacturer was not able to control. The back tire was not able to cope with the enormous forces, so that after a couple of rounds at full throttle rubber tread bars dismantled and abruptly ended the race and attempt to break the world record. 42 years later MUENCH returns to Daytona. Once again the German traditional brand enters the strong American competition with an innovation and wants to bring home the TTXGP World Championship title for the third consecutive time. The MUENCH TTE2, the youngest type of the MUENCH motorbike family, brims over with power, just like the “Daytona Bomb” did. The standard configuration allows a high speed of 240km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds. The only difference is that this bike does not run on gas but on electricity instead. A lithium-polymer-battery with 350V and 40Ah drives the 210kg light power pack and is supposed to arrange for the 2012 European Champion and MUENCH driver Matthias Himmelmann to repeatedly acclaim yet another TTXGP World Championship title on October 20th, 2012.
