DUNLOP DOMINATES AFM Formula Pacific With USA N-Tec Slicks On Sunday, October 7th 2012, the last race of the season, Ricky Corey brings home the AFM #1 Plate with an impressive five-event winning streak in AFM’s premier Formula Pacific class. On his Dunlop N-Tec-shod Yamaha R1, Corey swept five races in a row right out of the gate. Only in the last race did he cruise to keep his points lead and lock in the #1 plate. Just before the final event of the season, Corey’s radiator broke and the bike was unrepairable in short order, so he borrowed a friend’s R6 and entered the race starting from the last row. With no chance to win the race on an R6, but his sights clearly set on the #1 plate, he cruised to a solid finish to secure points for the #1 AFM plate. “It was a flawless season!” stated Ricky Corey, “I knew I had an edge with my tires, Dunlop being the best thing out there. They gave me what I needed to complete my winning combination, Rider, Bike and Tires. I am looking forward to a great season next year.” In 2013 Rick Corey will proudly run the #1 Plate at all AFM rounds. Corey also won 5 open superbike AFM events, all on Dunlop tires. Lenny Hale won the last Formula Pacific round in grand style. Having a new motor in his bike, Lenny felt he had a chance to win. Sitting back and watching Chris Siglin for the first half of the race, Lenny then pulled the trigger at the halfway point and never looked back, securing the final win of the Formula Pacific season on Dunlop tires. Just before the final Formula Pacific race, Lenny won the Open Superbike and got 2nd in Open GP. “I ran the tire for both Open races and it worked great. The Dunlop USA N-Tec 7455 compound did the job,” stated Lenny Hale after the race “My new motor really complements the tire. I like to get on the gas hard and the Dunlop 7455 gave me really good grip. Everyone was complaining about the grip and green track from the car race earlier this week, but I had good grip. I sat back and watched Chris struggling for the first half of the race, then made an easy pass and walked away with it.” Dunlop would like to congratulate Lenny Hale on his Formula Pacific win and Ricky Corey on his AFM #1 Plate! Well Done Lenny and Ricky! It’s a DUNLOP Sweep for every Formula Pacific race all year long.
