Already confirmed in second place in the Championship, Jules is looking to end the season on a high in front of his family, friends and fans. His team mate Ronan Quarmby is provisionally ninth on the grid and looking good. Riders PTR Honda’s Martin Jessopp is 24th and looking to improve tomorrow when there are further practice and qualifying sessions. The 13th and final race of 2012 takes place at 1330CET on Sunday, October 7th. Jules: “I am happy because I enjoyed riding today, the last time was seven years ago. I love this circuit and the weather was nice this afternoon. Just at the end I had a crash in the last five minutes. I think the reason was I was waiting too much for other riders to move away from me the lap before and the right side of my tyre got dirty or cold. The weather forecast is for rain the rest of the weekend, so it was good to qualify well today. On the bike I feel relaxed, now I need a good sleep ahead of tomorrow and I think everything will be good.” Ronan: “Yeah, it was a good session but I was put off a bit by the red flag. My bike and tyre were set up perfectly and I was ready to go for it when the session was interrupted. We dropped our times a bit but on my fast lap I made a mistake. The second row is definitely on for tomorrow. It is forecast for rain on Sunday but it doesn’t matter to me, whatever the weather I am looking forward to it.” Martin: “The set up we have in the dry is miles off. The quick changes of direction are so different to the last round at Portimao. Saying that I am quite surprised with how competitive my lap time was given the set up, it is not so bad considering. I really like this track and you need to full on attack it. I just want to get my bike set up right for tomorrow.” Simon Buckmaster, PTR Honda Team Manager: “It was a good session for Jules bearing in mind he has only ever raced here once before back in 2005. With the first session damp, for him to be fastest in the first dry session means he is looking strong. Ronan put in a good effort today and he is in confident mood going into tomorrow. Martin, although 24th, is close to the group challenging for points and will be looking to qualify higher up the grid to give him the best chance for a scoring finish on Sunday.” More, from a press release issued by Bogdanka PTR Honda: Lowes on provisional front row in France BOGDANKA PTR HONDA’s Sam Lowes finished the first qualifying session for the final round of the World Supersport Championship on the provisional front row, in fourth position, and aims for more progress tomorrow ahead of the Sunday’s race at Magny Cours. Mathew Scholtz finished the opening day in France in a fine fashion, provisionally qualifying in eighth position, to round out the second row despite having to learn another new circuit. The South African will be looking to keep his consistent rhythm and secure the second row start tomorrow. Miguel Praia, joining forces with the Bogdanka PTR Honda squad again after his solid stand-in performance at the Nurburgring, ended the opening day in France in 31st position and targets improvements tomorrow, during the second qualifying session ahead of the Sunday’s race. Sam Lowes: “The conditions weren’t perfect and a bit in-between this morning but it was good to post the fastest time in the opening practice. In the qualifying we tried a new shock which I like but I need do to more laps on it tomorrow to understand it better. We’ve also worked a lot on the hard tyre today and it was a good day overall. I ran off the track on my fastest lap in the end but my ideal time would’ve put me in second so it’s all good and I’m looking forward to tomorrow.” Mathew Scholtz: “This morning, during the first practice, the circuit was still a bit wet so I didn’t have too much time to learn it. Therefore early on in the qualifying I was a bit slower that I would’ve liked but once we’ve put the new tyres on and improved the setup a bit, I was able to go a fair bit faster. I’m very happy with the final position today and my pace, and I’m confident I can go a little bit quicker tomorrow.” Miguel Praia: “I was looking forward to getting on the Bogdanka Honda PTR bike today but unfortunately we had a bit a problem with the clutch and couldn’t take full advantage of the improving conditions in the first qualifying session. It’s nothing major, so we’re looking forward to going back out there tomorrow and improving from our today’s time as both the team and myself and confident we should be quite a lot higher on the grid on Sunday.” Simon Buckmaster, Bogdanka PTR Honda Team Manager: “Sam is on the provisional front row and in good shape. We tested some different settings and have good information to help progress tomorrow. It is Mathew’s first time here and he is eighth on the grid and that shows how much he is improving.”
