SPAIN PREPARES FOR THIRD MOTOGP BATTLE OF THE SEASON POWER ELECTRONICS Aspar take CRT title fight to Motorland The fight for the MotoGP World Championship continues this weekend as the series heads back to Spain for the third time this year for round fourteen at Aragón. Two Spanish riders will go head-to-head on home soil in their personal duel for the title, with Jorge Lorenzo’s victory at Misano combined with a crash for Dani Pedrosa giving the former a 38-point advantage going into the final five races. With the season to be decided in a seven-week period the pair know anything can still happen and at five kilometres in length the Motorland layout will not forgive any lapse in concentration. Randy De Puniet heads into the final stages of the season as the leading CRT rider in the championship after a season-long battle with his POWER ELECTRONICS Aspar team-mate Aleix Espargaró. With just three points separating the pair and another twenty back to their nearest CRT challenger it looks certain to be a two-way fight to the finish in the new concept of MotoGP. Both riders enjoy the Motorland layout and as usual they are determined to push each other to find the limit of their ART machines. Randy De Puniet: “Motorland is a fast circuit with some steep hills and I find it interesting to ride. I have always had a good feeling there although never managed great results. Hopefully this weekend the result matches the feeling! We want to continue to be the reference point in CRT. I have checked the weather forecast and it looks like it is going to rain although I hope we can get a dry session. We have had a good base setting for the last few races so we won’t touch much this weekend – just a few small tweaks.” Aleix Espargaró: “Motorland is a track I really like, especially with all the elevation changes. I have good memories of the year I raced there in Moto2 and after slipping up at Misano we need another good weekend now to get the better of Randy any way we can. It has been an interesting battle between us all year and now we have to push hard in the final sprint. Motorland has a lot of blind corners and I especially like the ‘Corkscrew’ in sector two. It is a very complete circuit and you need to ride it well. We’ll be using the same base set-up as Misano and the previous races.” More, from a press release issued by NGM Mobile Forward Racing: The NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team on their way to Aragon The 14th round of the season brings the World Championship back to Spain. Aragón will host the Grand Prix for the third time since its opening in 2010. The Gran Premio Iveco de Aragón will be the perfect scenario for the NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team to confirm positive feelings left by the Misano GP. Colin Edwards is feeling more confident after the considerable setup improvements achieved during the Misano GP. Aragón presents itself as the ideal opportunity for American rider and his Suter BMW to fight with the top CRTs. In Moto2 Alex De Angelis and Yuki Takahashi continue their progress with their FTR bike. The rider from Sam Marino left his home GP scoring valuable points, proving that he has a good feeling with the bike and with a bit of luck he will surely have the chance to fight for the top positions. For the Japanese rider, after an unfortunate crash early on during the Misano race, is now looking forward to this weekends race to prove his good feeling with the FTR bike and scoring the first points of the season and maybe even fighting for the top ten at this Aragón Grand Prix. More, from a press release issued by Avintia Blusens MotoGP Team: Riders of Avintia Blusens MotoGP want great results in Motorland After last race in Misano, when things did not go all as well as expected, men of Avintia Blusens want to manage a good result in the G.P. of Aragón. It will be the third time they ride in Spain and they expect to be back in good shape among the CRT. Yonny, who feels totally at home in spain though he is Colombian, wants to come back to the results managed in American practices, where he always was among the best riders, winning in Indianapolis. For David Salom everything will be better and easier after the complicated beginning in Misano, where he hardly could ride in dry conditions before the race. Both riders come to Motorland with great expectations and clear goals : Yonny Hernandez to win among the CRT. David, to go on fitting onto the new class and manage the best result possible. Yonny Hernández: “You know that I am optimistic and I always like to ride. Although last G.P. was not as good as expected, I believe in Aragón we will make a good race. It will be really important to manage a good adjustment in the frontwheel suspension. We need to set up the new Öhlins Pitchfork to be able to compete as strong as possible. If we manage that, I have no doubt we can shine and be among the best ones. I like the track and riding in spain is always an extra.” David Salom: “I feel like riding again with the CRT. I am sure that it will work better than in Misano and that we will improve ourself. There it was complicated because I could hardly ride in dry conditions. I hope in Motorland the rain will respect us and allow us to set up the bike easily. I know the track, I like it, and overall, riding at home is fantastic. I would like everything to go well, I hope we will make a good race.” More, from a press release issued by Pramac Racing: HECTOR WANTS REDEMPTION: HE RESTARTS FROM ARAGON The Pramac Racing Team heads to Aragon this weekend for its penultimate European stop, just before the MotoGP paddock embarks on flyaway trips to Japan, Australia and Malaysia. The MotorLand Aragon circuit, added to the series just in 2010, is full of turns and straights that could allow the Ducati to unleash its power. The track lies near the tow of Alcaniz, in northern Spain, only a few hours drive from Barcelona. For Héctor, this will be the third race on the home soil during the 2012 and he is impatient to get back on the track in front of his Spanish fans and to bounce back from a difficult period. I need to think about the present and focus on this race at the MotorLand Aragon. It will be an important stop, rich of positive incentives.
