Dillon Wins Formula 1 During CMRA Weekend at MotorSports Ranch

Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association-CMRA’s round seven held at MotorSports Ranch in Cresson, Texas this past Sunday, August 26, 2012. Temperatures in the nineties, a steady breeze, and partly cloudy skies made for good racing conditions on the 11 turn, 1.7 mile course.

Brandt Dillon rode his BMW S1000RR to the win in Formula 1, Sunday’s headline sprint race, holding off Eddie Thornton, also astride a BMW S1000RR, and Craig Montgomery on a Yamaha YZF-R1. Dillon set the fastest lap of the race, running a 1:17.895 on lap 4, besting Thornton’s fastest lap of 1:18.473. Montgomery ran a fastest lap of 1:18.991, sealing the deal for third, and shutting out Will Zamora.

Guillermo A. Gonzales, Aaron Murphy, Jeremy Louder, Bobby Davies, Greg Gilstrap, and Richard Schiller rounded out the top ten.

Top finishers for the weekend: for the Heavyweights, Ty Howard walked away with three wins in RaceworX A Superstock, Heavyweight Twins, and 212Decals.com A Superbike on his KTM RC8. Number one plate holder, Danny Kelsey, on a Suzuki GSX-R750 also grabbed four podiums taking the wins in B Superstock, B Superbike, and nailing down second place finishes in A Superstock and A Superbike. In Middleweight, Dustin Dominguez rode his Triumph Daytona 675R to victory in South Central Race Center C Superstock and won the Motard race on another motorcycle. Aaron Gore also had multiple class wins in Formula 2 Expert and D Superbike Expert.

Top Novice from the weekend: Will Zamora on a Yamaha YZF-R1 with three wins in OnRoad OffRoad Suspension A Superstock Novice, A Superbike Novice, and Road & Track Suspension Formula 1 Novice.

Additional multiple Novice class winners include: Mike James (B Superstock, C Superbike) and Noah Reese (Formula 2, LW Twins, D Superbike).
