FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Decision of the Grand Prix Commission The Grand Prix Commission, composed of Messrs. Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna, Chairman), Ignacio Verneda (FIM Executive Director, Sport), Herve Poncharal (IRTA) and Takanao Tsubouchi (MSMA) in the presence of Javier Alonso (Dorna) and Mike Trimby (IRTA, Secretary of the meeting), in a meeting held on 18 August 2012 in Indianapolis, decided the following: Technical Regulations Effective Immediately: It was confirmed that the new regulation requiring machines entered in the MotoGP class to use unchanged bore and stroke dimensions, throughout 2012-2014, only applies to machines produced by MSMA manufacturers and not to CRT entries. Effective 01 January 2013: The deadline for declaring a maximum of 24 possible gear ratios and four possible ratios for the primary gear for MotoGP class machines was fixed as the date of technical inspection for the first event of the season. Effective 01 January 2015 An homologation standard for racing wheels used in all classes of MotoGP events will be introduced from 2015. Final details of the testing procedure, test loads and certification procedure will be published before the end of 2012. Other Proposals A proposal to permit, during the remainder of the 2012 season, the use in the MotoGP class of additional tyres with different structures was rejected.
