Best result of the season: Karel Abraham finished eighth in Indianapolis Karel Abraham finished eighth in the last race before the bwin Grand Prix of the Czech Republic. It was the best result of this season for the Czech MotoGP rider, almost eleven seconds behind the winner, Valentino Rossi on Ducati. The entire Cardion Ab Motoracing team would like to thank its fans and partners who believed in us and congratulated us on today’s result. We are looking forward to meeting you during the bwin Grand Prix of the Czech Republic! Karel Abraham “First of all, I would like to thank everyone who kept their fingers crossed for me. It felt good to see how many people congratulated me and my team. The result is certainly excellent. On the other hand, I have to admit it could have been better. The start was not that good; I even bumped into someone a few times. I was caught up behind Elias, who rides Barbera’s Ducati. It took me a while to get in front of him. Ironically, the complication after the malfunction of Spies’ bike helped a lot. There was a cloud of smoke on the track, which basically left us blindfolded while we were negotiating the first turn. Elias ended up in gravel and by the time he got back on the track I had managed to overtake him. I managed to overtake Hernandez and Espargar relatively soon. Halfway through the race I was getting closer to Valentino as well. However, during the second half of the race our lap times were basically equal and my front wheel started to slip, so I did not want to risk at all costs.” Marco Grana, Chief Mechanic, Cardion AB Motoracing “It is a very good result after all we have been through during the first half of the season. We tried a few improvements during the warm-up session in terms of the front wheel grip; it worked perfectly. Karel had to overtake many riders after a bad start. Had the start been better, Karel would have been able to ride closer to Valentino, as their lap times were similar. We are happy that we have made this step towards an improvement and that Karel is feeling well on the bike. We have to take this as a restart of the season. We have learned something in Indianapolis which we must try to apply in Brno.”
