Kneedraggers.com/Triple Crown Industries rider Austin DeHaven broke his left foot while training on a motocross bike July 17 and will miss the AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike July 27-29 event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. DeHaven, the 2010 AMA Pro SuperSport National Champion, was training on the motocross track at the Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area, in Gorman, California, when he caught his left foot between his footpeg and a rock, according to a press release issued by his team. According to postings DeHaven made on his Facebook page, it is still unclear whether his bone fracture will require surgery or not but he has been told to expect a recovery time of four to eight weeks. More, from a press release issued by Kneedraggers.com/Triplecrown Industries: In an effort to find the best possible rider to replace the injured Austin Dehaven the Kneedraggers.com/Triplecrown Industries team has recruited Tommy Aquino to ride their R6 for round 8 and 9 of the AMA Pro season. When asked about the rest of the season, Kneedraggers.com/Triplecrown Industries team owner Dave Brite said “Tommy Aquino will be riding with us for the next 2 rounds. Tommy has had great results at Laguna, top 5 for the last 2 years and last year at NJMP he took home a 1st and 3rd. I hate that Austin won’t be there with us because I know he would have done well at Laguna but he can recover from this injury which is why we are not sure what’s going to happen after New Jersey. To race at the AMA Pro DSB level you have to train hard which is what Austin was doing and sometimes these things happen. We feel fortunate to have Tommy step in for these races and we are optimistic about the weekend with Tommy, David, Benny and Stefano.” Tommy Aquino will be competing this weekend at the “Circuito de Albacete” with Fogi Racing in the CEV Moto2 Championship. On Monday, Aquino will board a plane for the US where he will meet up with the Kneedraggers.com/Triplecrown Industries team at Laguna Seca. “I’m excited about this opportunity, I always feel good at Laguna and look forward to riding in front of the home crowd.” said Aquino. Fans can watch Tommy, Benny, David, Stefano and the entire Kneedraggers.com/Triplecrown Industries team July 27th – 29th at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
