Dunlop has brought a new, more durable compound choice for its rear D211GP-A N-Tec AMA Pro control tire to the Buckeye Superbike Weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course less than three weeks after AMA Pro riders first tested the new tire. “We started with four different more durable compounds than we had last year,” Dunlop Tire Development Engineer Tom Grolemund told Roadracingworld.com. “We’ve used them at club races to weed them out to what we felt was the best. We brought that [best candidate] to NOLA [Motorsports Park], and then as soon as we saw the positive results it was literally a phone call from NOLA to the plant and go from there.” Thanks to its N-Tec manufacturing technology, Dunlop was able to produce 300 of the new 8477 compound tires and deliver them to Mid-Ohio just 17 days after the June 26-27 test at NOLA Motorsports Park. The new compound will only be available to riders in the Daytona SportBike class at Mid-Ohio.
