Dwyer, Merck, Kling – Sunday’s Top Finishers For WERA National Challenge Races at NOLA Motorsports Park
Sean Dwyer put in another great performance on Sunday, taking his KWS backed, Dunlop-shod Suzuki GSX-R1000 to dominant wins in the WERA Superbike and Open Superbike races at the first WERA/Michelin National Challenge event at NOLA Motorsports Park, July 1, 2012.
In the hottest temperatures of the weekend with a track temperature of 147 degrees, the speeds got even faster. Dwyer turned a fastest lap of 1:44.540 while taking the win in the eight-lap WERA Superbike event. Luis Zendejas, running a fastest lap of 1:45.424 on his Dunlop-shod Suzuki GSX-R1000, would edge Tim Bemisderfer at the line by .15 sec for second. Bemisderfer turned a fastest lap of 1:45.530, taking third place on his Dunlop-shod Suzuki GSX-R1000.
Ralph Jennings, Nikk Rogers, Jeremy Louder, Christopher Patton, and Tim Ivanoff rounded out the top 8.
Dwyer also took the win in Open Superstock, running a 1:44.042, out pacing Luis Zendejas, who ran a fastest lap of 1:43.811. James Dellinger was hot on their heels, turning a 1:44.177 to take third place with his Dunlop-shod Suzuki GSXR-1000.
Jimmy Merck took the win in 600 Superbike and 750 Superstock, turning the fastest 750 race lap of the weekend at 1:45.278 with his Suzuki GSX-R600. Shea Fouchek took the win in 600 Superstock and set the fastest 600 race lap of the weekend at 1:44.823 on his Yamaha YZF-R6.
Palmer Kling rode his Moriwaki 250 to wins in both Formula 2 and Next Moto Champion Formula 3, turning a 1:52.132 lap en route.
Top novices from Sunday were Alex Rata, who took the wins in 600 Superbike Novice and 750 Superbike Novice on his Triumph Daytona 675R. Carson Zinger earned three podiums, taking the win in 600 Superstock Novice, second place in 750 Superstock Novice and third in 600 Superbike Novice with his Honda CBR600RR
