NORTH WEST SET FOR MCE BSB THRILLER AS THE CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT HITS OULTON PARK The MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship returns to the North West this weekend (6/7/8 July) as some of the world’s leading riders get set to battle for victory in a triple-header race event at Oulton Park. The riveting 2012 championship has already produced seven different race winners from four different manufacturers and defending champion Tommy Hill heads to the parkland circuit leading the overall standings for Swan Yamaha from double title winner Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne. Australian Josh Brookes and Michael Laverty are not far behind and are determined to add another win to their title assault. Hill said: “I always look forward to Oulton Park as it is one of my favourite circuits and after two very strong finishes at Knockhill we are coming in to the weekend hoping to stick the Swan Yamaha back on the top step of the podium again. We have three chances but I am taking it one race at a time as everyone is pretty even and we just need to keep pushing and getting those race wins. There are lots of riders who are going to be up there fighting but I am just focused on trying to get three wins.” Ellesmere Port’s Jenny Tinmouth remains the country’s fastest female racer and she will be seeking three point-scoring finishes at her home round whilst the Liverpool-based Quattro Plant Kawasaki team will be targeting the top five in MCE BSB with new signing Mark Aitchison. In addition to the three MCE BSB races (first on Saturday, two on Sunday) there will also be racing from the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship, the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 and 600 Championships, the Monster Energy Motostar Championship and the one make Ducati 848 Challenge. Fans can also meet the riders during a free of charge pit walk on Sunday’s raceday and big TV screens around the circuit mean they won’t miss any of the action. Advance adult tickets for main raceday cost from £25 online in advance with children aged 12 and under free until midday on Wednesday.
