Carlson, 54 More, from a press release issued by Geiger Media on behalf of KLR Group: Another win for Wyman pulls him closer to championship lead LEEDS, Ala. (June 24) — KLR Group Harley-Davidson rider Kyle Wyman rode his Spyke’s Harley-Davidson XR1200 to a second consecutive victory Sunday in the Triumph Superbike Classic at Barber Motorsports Park to push his 2012 total to three wins in six starts. Under brutally hot conditions, Wyman out-maneuvered points leader Tyler O’Hara with four turns left on the 2.38-mile, 14-turn circuit and then held off O’Hara’s final few charges to take the win by .047 seconds. “It was a lot of fun up front, dicing and battling back and forth with Tyler,” said Wyman, who led three laps to O’Hara’s eight. “We stayed together for the entire race. There were areas he was a little stronger than me and other spots where I was faster. It was a great race; the first I’ve ever won where drafting wasn’t a big factor. “The last lap set up perfectly. I passed (O’Hara) in Museum Corner and then rode as tight a line as I could the rest of the way in. I didn’t want to give him any space because I knew he’d pass me if he could.” The victory closes the gap in the championship chase between O’Hara and Wyman to six points with six races to go. Unofficially, O’Hara has 165 points to Wyman’s 159. Michael Barnes remains in third with 143 points after finishing third here. Wyman’s three wins this season are the most in the class. “This was a huge win for me because Gaston Kearby and his son Collin from the KLR Group were here with us for the first time all year,” Wyman said. “We really wanted to do well for them. We got the first win for KLR Group at Road America, which was cool, but it’s even better with Gaston and Collin here. “The points are important and every one you earn means a lot. Tyler got the bonus points here (for earning the pole and leading the most laps) but we got the win, so we were able to trim his lead down a little. It’s going to be a dogfight every weekend from here on in, just like it’s been all year.” Along with most of the other pros, Wyman will be back on his bike Tuesday during the first test at the brand-new NOLA Motorsports Park in the New Orleans suburb of Avondale, La. The circuit finishes the season Oct. 5-7 at NOLA. “A big thanks to everyone that supports this team,” Wyman said. “KLR Group, Spyke’s Harley-Davidson, Planet Fitness, Kuryakyn, Vesrah, Arai, Cortech, Sidi, Held, Rider’s Discount, Ohlins USA and Superbike Chassis. Plus my crew — Dad, Uncle Bill (Wyman), Paul Diener and Rick Bretl. I wouldn’t be here without them.” The next tour stop occurs July 13-15 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, with the Buckeye SuperBike Weekend presented by Dunlop Tire.
