Qualifying Report from Round 4, Spanish CEV Moto2 Circuit of Catalunya, Saturday, June 23, 2012 American Noyes Fourth on Moto2 Grid At Catalunya Kenny Noyes will start fourth on the grid for round four of the Spanish (CEV) Moto2 Championship on Sunday and the American is hoping that the weather stays hot because in the afternoon qualifying session he was quickest on his PL Racing Suter, the only rider to get into the 48s. Fastest qualifier and points leader, Jordi Torres (Suter) was second on the 120-degree asphalt. In the cooler morning session Torres was quickest from Russell Gomez (AJR), Alex Mariñelarena (Suter) and Noyes. Noyes is second in the series standing, trailing Torres by 12 points. Kenny has been battling chatter all season and, two days prior to the Barcelona round, the team, led by American Crew Chief George Vukmanovich tested both at the Motorland circuit in Aragon where an important step was taken toward solving the Suter’s cornering problems. Kenny Noyes: “We’ve reduced the chatter a lot, but it’s still a problem with the softer tire. The better the grip the more trouble we are in, but fortunately for us the weather is hot and everyone will be on the harder Michelin. A lot of riders and teams are complaining about the heat, but we did a long run in the afternoon when conditions were like what we will face at race time tomorrow and we were quickest on the race tire. Every lap we did was race pace so we are feeling good about our chances. This is going to be a, hot, physical race on my favorite track, and we are ready for it. “
