WMRRA Returns to Pacific Raceways for Round 4 June 16-17, 2012 The Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association returns to Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington this coming weekend for Round 4 of its 2012 season, with the season in full swing at the club’s home track. Pacific Raceways has been on the club’s schedule since 1974, and 5 races are scheduled at the facility for 2012. The track features 125 feet of elevation change as well as 10 turns ranging from the fast left-hand Turn 2 and the challenging downhill plunge of Turns 3 & 4 to the stop-and-go “Bus Stop” Turn 10 leading onto the front straight. The overall motorcycle track record is currently 1:23.352, set by Ross DeLong in 2011. With several fast newcomers to the club and the track battling with the more experienced racers, the racing has been incredibly close so far this year. Round 1 saw the sliding and drafting battle in the rain between RS125-mounted Tim O’Mahony and 13 year old John Gessner in the inaugural Peter Lenz Memorial 125GP class, while Round 2 treated spectators to Allister MacKinnon’s hard-fought double wins over #1 plate holder Eli Edwards and challenger Ryan “Chromie” Sutton in the 750 Superbike and Formula Ultra races. The WMRRA weekend features road racing bikes of all different sizes and configurations, with dedicated and competitive racers fielding bikes ranging from Honda CB160’s to the Ninja 250 class and the ever-popular TFS (Tired Former Superbike) class. The Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association was formed in 1974 to organize and promote the sport of motorcycle roadracing in Washington State. WMRRA Currently races at two tracks in the state, Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington, and the newly constructed The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washington.
