WORLD SUPERSPORT race winners Sam Lowes and Jules Cluzel will be in action at the Silverstone 200 support race for the 2012 British MotoGP at Silverstone in the UK on 15th-17th June. Bogdanka PTR Honda’s Sam is third in the World Supersport Championship, just behind Jules on his PTR Honda. They are competing in the Silverstone 200 against British Superbike specification bikes and other open machines up to 1200cc. The event will allow the two PTR racers to enjoy a competitive test ahead of the round of the World Supersport Championship scheduled for Silverstone on August 5th. Sam: “It will be interesting to see how our Supersport bike stacks up against the best Superbikes in Britain. Given the high top-speed nature of the track it will be tough. It’s going to be a test weekend with less pressure, just what I need after a hard race at Misano. It will be good to work alongside Jules and I am sure both of us will want to finish as the first 600 home.” Jules: “I am going to Silverstone to get a feel for my PTR Honda at this track. I know the circuit from Moto2 when I won in the dry in 2010 and finished fourth in the wet in 2011. I like the track but want it to be dry for this weekend to reduce the risk of any crashes and injury. My main aim is to have a good test so it will help me to overtake Kenan Sofuoglu in the World Supersport Championship standings later in the season.” Simon Buckmaster, PTR Team Manager: “We are delighted to be at the Silverstone 200 with Sam and Jules. This is a major test for our WSS title contenders ahead of the Championship round in August. While it is a test, I expect us to finish at the top of the 600cc class in the racing and would like to see both riders in the top 10 overall.” The Silverstone 200 races will be preceded by free practice and all-important qualifying on Friday with the first 16 laps 100km race getting the start signal straight after GP activities on Saturday afternoon. As in BSB the fastest lap times recorded in leg 1 will set the grid for leg 2. The second 100km race will set off immediately after the GP races have been concluded on Sunday. Silverstone 200 teams and riders will be exclusively based in the heritage pit garages and paddock complex between Woodcote and Copse corners as well as utilising the start/finish line in this area.
