More Riders Sign On To Do Track Walk With Fans At Barber Motorsports Park

SUPERBIKE STAR BLAKE YOUNG ADDS NAME TO TRACK WALK LIST TWENTY-ONE RIDERS COMMITTED TO WALK TRACK WITH FANS Birmingham, Ala. (June 9)AMA Pro Road Racing SuperBike star Blake Young is one of 12 riders to add their name this week to the list of riders who will walk the 17-turn race circuit with fans attending the opening day of the Triumph Superbike Classic presented by America’s First Federal Credit Union at Barber Motorsports Park. The track walk is free to all June 22nd ticket holders and ZOOM Motorsports, the exclusive promoter at the Barber Motorsports Park, will donate a portion of the day’s ticket sales to the Roadracing World Action Fund. Twenty-one riders have committed to the track walk. Young is currently second in the National Guard SuperBike Series standings and has three wins this season. The Suzuki rider also has five runner-up finishes to go with his victories and has not finished worse than third all season. One of his seven wins in 2011 came at Barber Motorsports Park last summer. Also adding their name this week are M4 Suzuki riders Chris Ulrich, Dane Westby and Elena Myers, as well as GEICO Suzuki rider and 2011 Barber SuperBike winner Martin Cardenas. Road Racing Factory riders Hayden Gillim, JD Beach, and Tomas Puerta will participate, as will SuperBike rider Geoff May, SportBike competitor Walt Sipp and XR1200 participant Shane Narbonne. Riders who committed earlier include National Guard SuperBike points leader Josh Hayes and his Monster Energy/Graves Yamaha teammate Josh Herrin. SuperBike riders Roger Hayden and Taylor Knapp, as well as Triumph riders Jason DiSalvo and Dustin Dominguez are scheduled for the walk. Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki riders Jake Lewis, Cory West and Kyle Wyman also have agreed to participate. “I am overwhelmed by the support the AMA Pro Road Racing riders are showing the track walk,” said Rick Humphrey, Vice President of ZOOM Motorsports. “We actually have riders reaching out to us to make sure we still have room for them to participate. I believe this will be an experience anymotorcycle and road racing enthusiast will want to participate in.” In addition to the fan experience, the track walk will benefit the Roadracing World Action Fund, which has a mission to help prevent race track injuries.Specifically, the Roadracing World Action Fund advocates, promotes and is involved in the deployment of soft barriers to help prevent racetrack injuries, and provides education on the value of adequate pre-race practice, rider training, and proper racetrack preparation. Set for June 22-24, the Triumph Superbike Classic is the sixth event of the season for the AMA Pro Road Racing Series and marks the 10th season the2.38-mile facility has hosted the series. The weekend will consist of seven races and three days of action-packed activities on the track, as well as off thetrack. In addition to the two marquee National Guard Superbike Series races, the weekend will feature two races in the GoPro Daytona SportBike class, Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport class and one race in the Vance & Hines XR1200 Series. Tickets for the Triumph Superbike Classic start at just $15 and can be purchased at www.barbermotorsports.com. Kids 15 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult. The Motorcycle Super Saver package is available until June 21st with access to three motorcycle events at Barber Motorsports Park in 2012, along with complimentary motorcycle parade laps during the Triumph Superbike Classic. While at Barber Motorsports Park, fans are encouraged to visit the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, a 144,000 square foot home to the largest private collection of motorcycles, representing 20 countries and over 200 manufacturers. Tickets to the Museum are available for an additional fee and can be purchased at the door.
