The Quest for 200 mph: Who Will Be First? Who Will Be Fastest? promotional contests put on by Miller Motorsports Park, Infront Motor Sports, Tissot and Pirelli during this weekend’s Superbike World Championship event ended without any winners as no rider exceeded 200 mph (322 kph) during any race, practice or qualifying session. The fastest top speed recorded by any World Superbike rider was 319.2 kph, or 198.34 mph, which was recorded by Max Biaggi, Marco Melandri and Eugene Laverty during Race One today. Because no rider exceeded 200 mph no prizes will be awarded for either the Who Will Be First? or the Who Will Be Fastest? contests. According to Miller Motorsports Park spokesman John Gardner, it has not yet been decided if the promotional contests will be repeated when the FIM Superbike World Championship returns in 2013.
