Daytona winner Wyman looking for another trophy in Utah TOOELE, Utah (May 25) — There’s only been a couple of races since KLR Group rider Kyle Wyman climbed to the top of the podium after winning the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 trophy at Daytona, but the high-revving 22-year-old says that’s too long. “With the way this bike has been running, and the way I’ve been riding, I truly expect to win every race,” said Wyman, who finished third in both Atlanta and Sonoma after his win in Florida. “I know that’s really hard to do because there are some great riders in this class; I just expect a lot out of myself. “It’s time to go to work. We’ve qualified on the pole two times in three races, we won Daytona, and we’ve been on the podium every race. That’s cool. Now it’s time to climb all the way up to the top step again.” Wyman will get that chance Monday when he competes for the XR1200 title of the BigM Weekend presented by Lucas Oil, which takes place Saturday through Monday at picturesque Miller Motorsports Park. “It’s a great race and a beautiful track surrounded by all these mountains,” Wyman said. “It’s special because the World Superbike guys are a part of the show and we’re pitted right next to them so we’ll get to check them out up close and they’ll get to watch us do our thing. I’ve found that everyone loves these Harleys, no matter what they might race or ride.” Although he refused to offer it as an excuse, Wyman fractured his heel after an accident on another bike he was riding in Atlanta. When he was on his Spyke’s Harley-Davidson race bike, the heel was a non-issue, though it did adversely affect his training regiment. “I had to change some things up,” Wyman admitted, “but that’s in the past. I’m back to 100 percent health now and I’ve been riding my bicycle and working out at my local Planet Fitness without any pain. Everything is back to normal now and I feel fully prepared for this weekend’s race. “I want to get a win for the KLR Group. They joined us right after Daytona so they haven’t been in the winner’s circle yet and I want to change that as soon as possible. We have big TV coverage on SPEED this weekend so now is the perfect time to get another victory.” Wyman currently occupies the third position in the championship points, but is just nine points behind leader Tyler O’Hara. Michael Barnes is second, three points clear of Wyman. Action begins at 10:45 a.m. Saturday with a practice session. The first qualifying session begins later that day at 5 p.m. The second qualifying session is slated for 4:45 p.m. Sunday, followed by a quick warm-up at 9:50 a.m. Monday. The main event begins at 1:20 p.m. Monday.
